Developed with cutting-edge automation, remote operations capability, and industry-leading safety systems, Aquila represents the future of underground mining in Australia.\nWe are seeking a passionate and driven Geotechnical Engineer to join our high-performing technical team and play a critical role in supporting the safe, sustainable, and productive extraction of premium steelmaking coal.\nReporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this key role will see you:\nMaintain geotechnical oversight of underground operations and audit compliance with corporate standards and approved support designs.\nDesign ground support and monitoring systems to support safe and productive mine operations.\nConduct regular underground inspections to audit installed strata support and strata conditions to confirm the effectiveness in accordance with the approved support designs.\nProvide strategic advice to the Technical Services and Mining Operations departments on how to maximise the value of the operation.\nAdvise management and operational staff on geotechnical issues.\nManage the Strata Defect System and ensure compliance with the Geotechnical Operational Management System.\nAdvise and assist engineers with recommendations on geotechnical and hydro-geological issues regarding mine design, planning and operations.\nUnderstand and comply with all legislative and company safety, health, environment, cost and production objectives, guidelines, procedures, and requirements relevant to the professional management of ground conditions.\nProvide mentoring and training to personnel with respect to strata support systems.\n Tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline\nProven underground coal experience within a Geotechnical Engineering role\nExperience with computer aided mine design programs, geotechnical software, and other business software\nRegistered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) would be highly advantageous or willingness to obtain recognition\nAbility to understand functionality of business systems and provide relevant data for business purposes\n Full-time permanent position based at Aquila Mine, Middlemount QLD\nAttractive 7 on 7 off roster on offer\nCompetitive Salary + 12% Super + Annual Bonus\nResidential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO options\nSubsidised accommodation and company funded camp options provided\nSeveral conveniently timed, daily bus transfers from the airport to camp and onto site\nRelocation Assistance provided\nWhat we Offer\nWhen you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package and a range of flexible work arrangements that support the balance of work, family and individual circumstances.
