Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.\n We are seeking a safety focused and technically capable Seamgas SCADA Operator to join our Seamgas team.\nIn this critical operational role, you will monitor and support the safe operation of the site’s seam gas drainage infrastructure. Your work will help maintain safe underground atmospheric conditions and enable productive mining activities.\nYou will be the central point for monitoring the Seamgas network, responding to SCADA alarms and trends, and escalating operational or equipment issues to the appropriate teams. You will also support the development of SCADA processes, reporting systems and improvement initiatives.\nWhat you will be doing\nYour responsibilities will include but not limited to:\nMonitoring gas extraction, processing, compression and distribution systems through the SCADA network\nOperating Seamgas infrastructure within approved operating envelopes, alarm limits and TARP requirements\nResponding to alarms, abnormal trends and potential operational threats\nEscalating plant, equipment and process issues to the appropriate stakeholders\nMonitoring gas chromatograph data and process safety requirements\nAnalysing production, equipment performance and availability data\nProviding alarm and trend data for incident and equipment investigations\nIdentifying equipment issues that may affect reliability, maintainability or availability\nHelping develop SCADA processes, operating standards, procedures and reports\nIdentifying shutdown work early so it can be planned into available plant downtime\nMaintaining Process Safety registers and supporting isolation lock box management\nEnsuring equipment changes are appropriately risk assessed and managed through the change management process\n You will be someone who can remain focused while monitoring complex systems and who understands the importance of escalating issues quickly and accurately.\nTo be successful, you will ideally have:\nPrevious experience operating or monitoring SCADA, process control or industrial control systems\nExperience in mining, gas drainage, gas processing, utilities, fixed plant or a similar operational environment\nKnowledge of SCADA alarms, trends, operating envelopes and process control\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills\nThe ability to interpret operational data and identify emerging risks or equipment issues\nExperience preparing reports and maintaining accurate operational records\nAn understanding of risk management, process safety and change management requirements\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nThe ability to complete detailed and accurate shift handovers\nConfidence working with technical, operational and maintenance teams\nA proactive approach to continuous improvement and equipment reliability\nExperience with Citect SCADA, gas drainage infrastructure, gas compression systems, process safety or underground coal mining operations will be highly regarded.\n Based at Moranbah North Mine, Moranbah, QLD\nRoster 8 days on 6 off\nFIFO, BIBO (Mackay / Rocky), DIDO or Residential (subsidised)\nFree camp and mess\nCompetitive salary + 12% superannuation and annual bonus\nFree / Discounted gym membership\nFull relocation provided to Middlemount\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees and their family\nWhat we offer\nWhen you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package and a range of flexible work arrangements that support the balance of work, family and individual circumstances.
