This role oversees maintenance strategy, workforce leadership, budgeting, reliability programs, and contractor management to maximize equipment availability, optimize asset lifecycle costs, and minimize unscheduled downtime.\nAs a key member of the site operational leadership team, the Manager, Mechanical Maintenance partners closely with Operations, Reliability Engineering, EPCM contractors, and Project teams to integrate maintainability into project designs, support plant commissioning, and foster a strong culture of safety and operational discipline.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintenance Strategy & Execution\nLead the development and implementation of comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs across mining and processing facilities.\nOversee the maintenance planning, scheduling, and work management execution processes to maximize operational efficiency and equipment uptime.\nEnsure maintainability and long-term reliability standards are integrated into capital projects and EPCM design phases.\nReliability Engineering & Condition Monitoring\nCollaborate with Reliability Engineering teams to lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode evaluations.\nSupport and advance condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and non-destructive testing.\nBudgeting & Cost Management\nDevelop and manage the annual operating and sustaining capital budgets for mechanical maintenance.\nControl contractor costs, optimize spare parts inventory levels, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance expenditure.\nProject Commissioning & Operational Readiness\nSupport the commissioning, ramp-up, and start-up of new mechanical systems, processing facilities, and infrastructure.\nPartner with EPCM contractors and project teams during studies, execution, and handover to ensure seamless operational transition.\nSafety Leadership, Compliance & Governance\nChampion a strong safety culture and ensure strict compliance with MSHA, site safety, and environmental standards.\nLead hazard identification, workplace examinations, and incident prevention initiatives within the maintenance department.\nTeam Leadership & Workforce Development\nLead, coach, and mentor a high-performing maintenance team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting personal accountability.\nProvide constructive feedback, perform activities with autonomous discipline within agreed operational boundaries, and support technical skill development.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required.\nCertified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent designation preferred.\nMinimum 5 to 7+ years of progressive mechanical and reliability maintenance experience within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial operations.\nProven track record supporting project studies, EPCM execution, plant commissioning, and ramp-up phases.\nIn-depth expertise in asset management systems (CMMS), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).\nStrong practical knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration monitoring, oil analysis, and thermography.\nDemonstrated success in developing operational budgets, managing contractor scope, and optimizing spare parts inventories.\nStrong leadership capabilities with the ability to lead autonomously, mentor teams, and maintain a collaborative work culture.\nStrong safety leadership presence with comprehensive knowledge of MSHA surface and processing compliance requirements.\nCultural and community awareness relevant to mine development and operations, aligned with AngloGold Ashanti values.\nValid driver's license required with the ability to operate company vehicles safely.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States.\nAbility to maintain strict confidentiality regarding business performance data, capital plans, production metrics, and cost structures.\nAngloGold Ashanti Limited\nwww.anglogoldashanti.com\nBENEFITS:\nAngloGold Ashanti North America (AGANA) offers a competitive benefits package to include company paid medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums; flexible spending accounts; 401(k) retirement plan with employer match; vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays.
