Responsibilities include:\nPerform routine operational maintenance on building equipment, including start-up and shutdown procedures\nTroubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general building maintenance issues\nRespond to maintenance requests and work orders throughout the facility\nPerform preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned\nConduct lighting inspections, maintain bulb inventory and complete routine replacements\nEvaluate maintenance issues and determine appropriate solutions, with assistance and supervision as needed\nParticipate in rotating on-call responsibilities\nAssist with storm preparation\nRespond to emergency fire and security alarms during regular business hours and after hours\n\nThese responsibilities are reflected in American National's Building Maintenance Engineer I and Building Maintenance Engineer II job descriptions.\n\nWhich Level Is Right for You?\nBuilding Maintenance Engineer I\nHigh school diploma\n1–2 years of related experience\nClean driver's license\nComfortable performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting while continuing to develop your skills\n\nThe Level I job description calls for 1–2 years of experience and notes that the position receives detailed instruction on new projects and assignments.\n\nBuilding Maintenance Engineer II\nHigh school diploma\n4–6 years of related experience\nClean driver's license\nComfortable handling day-to-day maintenance responsibilities with greater independence\n\nThe Level II job description calls for 4–6 years of experience and notes that the position normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nDepending on the level, preferred qualifications include:\nSecond or Third Grade Engineer License\nSystems Maintenance Technician (SMT) designation or equivalent\nSystems Maintenance Administrator (SMA) designation or equivalent\n\nThe Engineer I description lists a Third Grade Engineer License as preferred, while Engineer II lists a Second Grade Engineer License; both list SMT and SMA designations or equivalents as preferred.\n\nDon't Check Every Box?\nWe still encourage you to apply.
