Job Summary
The Sr. Content & Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the creation and distribution of written, audio, and video hockey content and communications that elevate the club's brand, engage fans, support revenue-driving initiatives, and strengthen relationships with media, partners, and the community. This role supports the day-to-day digital content and communications initiatives through storytelling, hockey-focused social media content creation, podcast hosting, media relations, website and app management, and game-day coverage. The Sr Content & Communications Coordinator will aid in the producing engaging multimedia content, draft and distribute team communications, collaborate across departments, and help deliver a best-in-class fan experience across all club platforms.
Essential Functions
- Assist the team with creating, capturing, editing, and publishing engaging hockey content across the club’s digital platforms including the website, mobile app, email, and video channels. Provide marketing team with hockey focused content for social media. Draft and produce written content including feature stories, news articles, player profiles, game previews & recaps, and community stories for the website, Reign Insider, and LA Kings insider.
- Support the functionality of the team’s website and mobile app and serve as the main point of contact for website and app vendors. Assist with researching emerging digital trends, technologies, and best practices to increase traffic and ticket sales conversions.
- Assist Manger, Team Operations in supporting media relations efforts, including interview coordination, television production management, and media inquiries. Coordinate and support availability for marketing and community team use of players.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Hockey Operations and the business organization, ensuring timely communication of player transactions, roster updates, team developments, and key hockey-related information to support effective marketing and business initiatives. Work with Manager Team operations for access to players.
- Serve as the host of the sponsorship-contracted Reign podcast, creating engaging episode content aligned with the organization's marketing strategy, including player and community spotlights, hockey education segments for casual fans, and prospect updates. Coordinate all aspects of podcast production and distribution, and collaborate with the Video Coordinator to create and optimize social media clips and promotional content to maximize audience reach and engagement.
- Collaborate with ticket sales, marketing, Global Partnerships, Community Relations, Merchandise, and Game Presentation to contribute to organizational goals and ensure prompt updates of business-related content. Support the execution of marketing campaigns to help generate ticket sales and contracted sponsorship activations.
- Attend and support all home games and other assigned events. Assist with game notes, live updates, and post-game communications. Assist as color commentator for select games.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred) Journalism, Communications, or a related field
Experience Qualifications
- 4-6 years minimum experience in communications coordinating at a small venue/company
- Prior press, media, and content creation experience
- Knowledge and interest in sports or hockey preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Highly organized, resourceful, independent, detailed-oriented, quick learner
- Proficient in digital media editing software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and ability to learn required business systems
- Ability to prioritize and delegate workload and solve problems efficiently and quickly
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Assertive, self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work nights, all events, weekends, events and holidays as required
- Ability to act as a color commentator is a plus, but not required
Payscale: $23.27 - $26.44/hr
This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
