Occasional travel to suppliers or other sites may be required.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Resolution\n\nOwn the mechanical design of simulator subsystems, including but not limited to:\no Cabin\no Access systems\no Motion stages\nDevelop and update complex 2D and 3D CAD designs\nProduce and review engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials (BOM) structures, and part lists\nEngage with senior engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality standards\nCollaborate with purchasing on part costings and supplier engagement\nWork with senior engineers on design trade-offs, material selection, and manufacturing methods\n\nTesting & Validation\n\nWork with senior engineers to develop testing procedures and provide technical guidance to support effective validation and commissioning activities.\nPerform design testing, validation and commissioning activities to ensure designs meet requirements.\nSupport the investigation and resolution of design issues identified during build, testing and operation.\nTravel worldwide where required to support the build, testing, commissioning and servicing of customer simulators.\nLeadership & Mentoring\n\nSupport the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer and Chief Designer with day-to-day management tasks\n\nPlanning and Scheduling\n\nPrioritize, plan, and track work for themself \nReport progress and escalate risks to the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer\n\nInternal Coordination\n\nWork closely with other departments within Ansible Motion to ensure designs meet project timelines and integration requirements\nCollaborate cross-functionally to align subsystem designs with overall simulator architecture\n\nContinuous Improvement & Other Duties\n\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives within mechanical design processes and practices\nPerform other tasks as required by the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, Chief Designer or Technical Director\nTake ownership of assigned projects, demonstrating initiative, problem-solving, and strategic thinking\n\nSkills, Knowledge & Expertise\n\nEssential:\n\nRelevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical design\nProficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office\nStrong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills\nInterest in Automotive or Motorsport sectors\nDemonstrable experience in mechanical design for complex assemblies or systems\n\nDesirable:\n\nHands-on practical engineering experience (e.g., automotive, manufacturing, assembly)\nKnowledge of at least one manufacturing process (welding, machining, carbon fibre layup, etc.)\nExperience engaging with suppliers on technical solutions and costings\nPrevious exposure to simulator design or high-precision engineering projects\nDemonstratable knowledge of at least one manufacturing process, such as welding, machining, or carbon fibre layup\n Person Specification:\n\nConfident engineer who can follow direction and identify when to ask for advice or help\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of complex projects.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with engineers, senior technical leaders and wider stakeholders.\nCollaborative approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a multidisciplinary environment. \nPlanning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in their own workload. \nEffective problem solver who takes a pragmatic
