Antares Nuclear is an American advanced nuclear energy company based in Torrance, California, that designs and builds factory-produced, deployable fission microreactors for defense, space and remote power applications. Founded in 2023, it aims to supply mass-producible, inherently safe reactors for military installations, spacecraft and undersea systems, was selected for the US Army Janus program at Fort Bragg and also works near Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls. It hires thermo-mechanical, structural, test, quality and electrical integration engineers, welding and nondestructive evaluation technicians, recruiters and finance staff.

About Us

At Antares, our long-term mission is to make clean energy abundant from Earth to the Asteroid Belt. We’re fueled by the belief that advanced nuclear energy can strengthen our military, solve the climate crisis, elevate global living standards, and expand humanity's presence in outer space. To achieve our mission, we’re building mass-producible, inherently safe, deployable microreactors that can be used terrestrially, underwater, and in space.

The Antares team hails from SpaceX, the White House, the Pentagon, the Department of Energy, MIT, Rigetti Computing, General Atomics, Relativity Space, Ursa Major, and National Laboratories like Idaho, Oak Ridge, Los Alamos, and Savannah River. Antares has raised over $600M in venture capital from top-tier investors and has hundreds of million-dollars on contract with the military services, NASA, and the Department of Energy.

About the Team

The Operations team supports the day-to-day workplace experience and helps employees, visitors, candidates, vendors, and guests move through the office smoothly and professionally. This role owns the front desk and provides practical support across reception, meetings, supplies, shipping, and general office needs.

We are looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable Receptionist to be the first point of contact for employees, visitors, candidates, and guests at our office. This person will create a welcoming and professional experience for everyone who walks through our doors and help keep the office running smoothly day to day.

The ideal person is proactive, attentive, and comfortable interacting with a wide range of people. You notice the little things, take initiative, and are equally comfortable welcoming an important guest, enforcing a visitor policy, or jumping into an office task that needs to get done.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, candidates, vendors, and guests, including ID verification, check-in, badges, and host notifications.

  • Maintain attentive front-desk coverage and ensure visitor and access procedures are consistently followed.

  • Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and well-stocked office environment, including reception and shared spaces, coffee, snacks, beverages, and common office supplies.

  • Coordinate onsite meeting logistics, including conference rooms, catering, guest arrival details, and meeting materials.

  • Support basic shipping needs, including creating shipping labels and scheduling pickups.

  • Provide administrative and office support between front-desk needs, including printing, shredding, ordering supplies, data entry, and other ad hoc tasks.

  • Pitch in wherever needed to help the office operate smoothly while maintaining front-desk coverage.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least one year of experience in reception, administrative support, customer service, hospitality, or another public-facing role.

  • Friendly, professional communication with employees, candidates, executives, vendors, and external guests.

  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to provide consistent onsite front-desk coverage in Torrance from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to prioritize interruptions and switch tasks quickly.

  • Sound judgment, discretion, and situational awareness, particularly around visitors and facility access.

  • Ability to enforce visitor and access policies in a friendly but firm manner.

  • Comfort with everyday workplace technology, including email, calendars, spreadsheets, office equipment, shipping systems, and visitor-management tools.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting a busy front desk, reception area, office, hotel, clinic, coworking space, or similar environment.

  • Experience coordinating meeting rooms, catering, office supplies, shipping, or guest logistics.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and common visitor-management or shipping platforms.

  • Experience working in a secure, regulated, manufacturing, engineering, or technology workplace.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work fully onsite in Torrance, CA and maintain attentive front-desk coverage throughout scheduled hours.

  • Willingness to assist with practical office tasks while remaining responsive to visitors and front-desk needs.

Location

We are located in Torrance, CA in a 322,000 square foot, brand new facility featuring large open spaces for team collaboration, R&D, and production, as well as easy access to the 405, 105, and 110 freeways. Our facility is in the heart of Los Angeles' vibrant emerging tech ecosystem alongside many other high-growth startups and enterprises.

Culture

At Antares, we like to specifically tie each role to our founding document’s set of values-here are the top five cultural values we think you should believe at your core to be successful:

  • Think in Systems - Energy and Defense are complex ecosystems with numerous stakeholders with competing priorities, conflicting policies, perverse incentives, and emergent and path-dependent properties. First principles thinking alone is insufficient. Think probabilistically and then take action. “If you want to be certain, then you are apt to be obsolete.” Over-optimizing the components often degrades the system

  • Obsess over the End User - The customer and end user are often not the same. We will never build globally competitive commercial products if we lose sight of our end users and their entire interaction with the product life cycle

  • Be Unconstrained by Convention - Our only limits are the laws of physics. Many, even experts, will say what we are working on is impossible. They said the same about SpaceX reusing rockets. Generationally impactful companies, by definition, must accomplish the seemingly impossible. If it were easy, it would have already been done. Never shy away from a solution because it has never been tried before, and never choose to do something because that's “how it's always been done”

  • Go Where the Work Is - Never miss a chance to meet a customer, user, or stakeholder face to face, even if that means hopping on a plane. If you can’t make it, find a teammate who can channel your intentions and go in your place. Deep work can be done from anywhere, but we believe teams are built in person, and aim to maximize our time together

  • Operate in the Grey - Embrace nuance in pursuit of truth. Question every fundamental assumption

Antares is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based solely on merit, competence, and qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.
