At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.\nJob Purpose/Overview\nThe Hematology Technician II performs laboratory analyses and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nSets up and runs lab tests \nRead and releases test results\nRead UA slides, bacteria and path review slides at department minimum rates. \nBuild hematology and UA loads\nOperate Atlas UA instrument as requested. \nPerform all required quality control per QA guidelines including all instrument maintenance and temperature charts\nFind missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list \nMaintain organization of storage refrigerator \nSet up and assist with Avian and Exotic specimens as requested \nPrepare blood smears and perform re-checks as directed using LTP when necessary. \nLibrary all samples \nEnsure bar-coded racks are arranged correctly and loaded onto instruments \nRun all needed quality control and calibration by department \nReads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures\nMaintains clean and organized work area. Restock supplies as needed\nParticipate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation\nConsult with senior peers on non-complex Hematology tasks to learn through experience \nMay be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned \nWe share a collaborative obligation to ensure that we conduct ourselves in the utmost ethical manner and that we hold each other accountable to the values and standards of the organization. Antech Diagnostics has several processes in order to communicate with leadership and expects that employees will have a commitment to integrity and uncompromising values.\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent, prior/some lab experience preferred and/or 2-, or 4-year degree in science-related field. \nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nLaboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and operating lab instruments preferred\nKnowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and Parasitology procedures and equipment helpful. \nAttention to detail\nAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team \nAbility to learn new assignments efficiently and support the work of other teams during low demand periods \nCommunication skills, both verbal and written \nPositive, can-do attitude \nBasic math, interpretive and analytical skills. \nStrong data entry skills required \nPersonal computer skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software\nWorking Conditions\nStationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours \nConstantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently. \nOccasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch \nRequired to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs. \nThe ability to observe details at close range \nExtended hours may be needed \nLaboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE \nPotential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
