Includes the following and other duties as assigned.\nUnder general supervision, this position will:\nSupervise team of Accountants by assigning work, reviewing deliverables, providing coaching and training, and conducting initial performance evaluations.\nServe as a resource for accounting staff regarding accounting policies, reporting requirements, and month-end close procedures.\nPrepare consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, management reporting packages, and budget-to-actual analyses to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.\nCoordinate and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring adherence to the financial close calendar and completion of assigned deliverables.\nReview and approve journal entries, supporting documentation, and account analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies.\nReview account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and audit ready. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and strengthen compliance.\nOversee preparation and analysis of operating expense and capital expenditure accruals, ensuring accurate reporting of operating costs and capital activities. Partner with various groups to analyze operating results, explain cost variances, and identify key business drivers.\nPrepare and review lease operating statements, capital reports, and operational metrics used by management to evaluate asset performance.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required)\nBachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.\nField of Study: Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.\nAt least four (4) years of related experience.\nActive Certified Public Accountant (CPA).\nCORE COMPETENCIES\nList and describe the required factors (i.e. knowledge, skills, abilities, software programs), that are needed for this role.\nStrong knowledge of GAAP with emphasis in oil and gas accounting combined with the ability to research, propose, and apply new and existing transactions to complex accounting issue.\nWorking knowledge of government rules and regulations including SEC reporting requirements as well as State promulgated oil and gas commission regulations.\nStrong financial and business acumen and technical financial reporting skills.\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to apply accounting standards and knowledge in an increasingly complex and dynamic environment.\nAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel including PivotTables and V-Lookups.\nExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and disciplines of the organization.\nAble to prioritize, coordinate, and maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.\nAbility to build strong relationships and work cross functionally with internal and external teams.\nAble to help, support, and work effectively to lead a team.\nDemonstrate and understand high ethical and professional behavior, business practices, and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others are consistent with these standards and values.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nThis role will have supervisory responsibilities over the Financial and Sr. Financial Accountants. Supervises two (2) or more Full-Time Employees regularly.\nResponsible for regularly making decisions and/or recommendations concerning:\nInterviewing/hiring.\nMentoring/ongoing training.\nSetting or adjusting work hours.\nPlan, appoint, and direct the work.\nAppraise performance/productivity and efficiency.\nRecommend advancement, promotions, or other changes in status.\nHandle complaints/grievances and disciplinary issues.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
