Ko Mātou - About Us

Kia Hanga I Te Ao, E Ora Ai, E Tupu Ai, Te Tangata Me Te Kainga. At ANZ, we’re shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

As an Assistant Branch Manager in our Personal Banking Branch Network, you’ll play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations and setting the tone for outstanding customer experiences.

You’ll coach and guide a team of bankers, build capability, and step up to lead the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence. If you thrive in a fast-moving environment and are passionate about helping others grow, this could be your next opportunity.

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing customer service team
  • Coach others to deliver meaningful customer conversations and outcomes
  • Be a key contact for compliance, process, and risk within the branch
  • Help shape a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for staff and customers
  • Contribute to the success of ANZ by living our values and supporting continuous improvement

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Location: ANZ Tokoroa Branch

Role Type: Permanent, Part Time

Role Hours: 22.5 hours - Tuesday to Thursday 8:30am - 5pm

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like?

You’ll work alongside the Branch Manager to drive results, lead a strong team, and ensure customers walk away with great experiences every time. From mentoring new talent to refining service delivery, no two days will feel the same - and that’s the exciting part.

You will also:

  • Support the running of daily branch operations and customer service delivery
  • Coach and develop staff to meet customer needs with care and confidence
  • Monitor branch performance and look for ways to improve customer and employee outcomes
  • Ensure policy and risk procedures are followed across the board
  • Step into leadership when the Branch Manager is away, with full responsibility

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience leading or coaching a team, ideally in a customer service or retail banking setting
  • The ability to contribute to the creation and maintenance of inclusive workplace culture
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build relationships
  • An understanding of compliance and operational procedures
  • A commitment to doing what’s right for customers, every time
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and help others do the same

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.

He aha te take e uru ai koe ki a mātou? - So, why join us?

That's why we have a range of flexible working arrangements, so our people can 'make work, work for them'. We also provide a range of benefits including access to wellbeing services and discounts on selected products and services from ANZ and more.

At ANZ you'll be part of an organisation where the different backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people are celebrated.
