We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.\nWe now have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Controls Specialist to join our Commercial Delivery team in our Brisbane CBD office on a full-time basis until October 2028.\nReporting to the Infrastructure Delivery Portfolio Controls and Reporting Manager, you will be a Project Controls subject matter expert, leading project cost control, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance reporting across a portfolio of major capital projects.\nWorking closely with Project Managers, Finance and delivery teams, you will help drive consistent project controls practices, strengthen reporting governance and provide insights that support project decision-making.\nKey Responsibilities\nAct as the PRISM subject matter expert, managing and maintaining the system to support cost management, forecasting, progress measurement and Earned Value Management (EVM).\nDevelop, maintain and continuously improve project controls processes, standards, governance frameworks and reporting across the project portfolio.\nEstablish and maintain WBS structures, control accounts, cost breakdown structures and performance measurement baselines within PRISM.\nLead monthly project controls reporting, including cost and schedule performance, forecasts, variances, KPIs and Earned Value metrics (PV, EV, AC, CPI and SPI).\nMonitor project performance against approved baselines, providing variance analysis, trend insights and performance reporting to support decision-making.\nSupport forecasting activities including EAC, ETC, cost trends and forecast variance analysis, working closely with Project Managers, Finance, Planning and delivery teams.\nEnhance reporting, dashboards and analytics through Power BI and reporting automation initiatives, while providing guidance to project teams on PRISM and EVM methodologies.\nYour Background\nTertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.\nDemonstrated experience in project controls, cost controls or project performance roles within energy, infrastructure, engineering or construction environments.\nAdvanced experience with ARES PRISM, including cost control, forecasting, performance measurement, reporting and system administration.\nStrong practical experience in Earned Value Management (EVM), including CPI, SPI, EAC, variance analysis, performance measurement baselines and progress measurement methodologies.\nDemonstrated expertise in project cost management, budgeting, forecasting, commitments, cost and schedule integration, and project performance reporting.\nAdvanced analytical, reporting and systems capability, including Power BI, advanced Excel and working knowledge of Primavera P6.\nExcellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to improve project controls processes, governance frameworks and reporting outcomes.\nWorking at APA\nAt APA, we’re committed to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace where you can achieve your best.\nWe offer targeted career development programs designed to accelerate your career, competitive remuneration, employee benefits, flexible working arrangements, and wellbeing initiatives are all part of what we’ll offer you.
