We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.\nWe havea permanent, full-time opportunity for a Technical Officer - Mechanical to join ourOperations & Maintenance team in Alice Springs.\nThis is a hands-on field role suited to a local mechanic, fitter, plant technician or mechanically minded person who enjoys fault-finding and practical work. You do not need previous gas pipeline experience-APA will provide training in our equipment, systems and safe work processes.\nBased in Alice Springs and reporting to the NT South Regional Manager, you will help keep our pipeline facilities and mechanical equipment safe, reliable and operating effectively.\nKey Responsibilities\nComplete planned and breakdown maintenance on valves, regulators, pumps, engines, compressors and other station equipment.\nInspect equipment, identify faults and carry out practical repairs to keep facilities operating safely and reliably.\nAssist with equipment installation, testing, servicing and minor mechanical modifications.\nTravel to remote sites across the region and work independently as well as part of a small local team.\nComplete maintenance records and follow APA safety, permit and work management requirements.\nParticipate in call-outs, emergency response and site duties as required after training and authorisation.\nYour background\nA mechanical trade qualification or solid hands-on mechanical experience. Automotive, diesel, heavy vehicle, plant, agricultural and fixed-plant backgrounds are encouraged to apply.\nGood mechanical aptitude and the ability to inspect equipment, diagnose faults and complete practical repairs.\nA strong safety mindset and willingness to learn APA’s pipeline equipment, procedures and work systems.\nThe ability to work reliably with limited supervision and contribute to a small, supportive field team.\nA current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote sites, including occasional overnight stays and extended working hours.\nBasic computer skills for completing work orders, maintenance records and safety documentation.\nAbout the Team\nYou will join a small Alice Springs-based Operations & Maintenance team that looks after essential energy infrastructure across Central Australia. The work is varied, practical and gives you the opportunity to build new skills while working on mechanical equipment in both workshop and remote field environments.\nIf you are mechanically capable, safety focused and keen to learn, we want to hear from you.
