Based in Houston, this leader will maintain a consistent onsite presence in Mobile and ensure both locations operate in alignment with Aperam’s standards, policies, and business objectives.\nFluency in both English and Spanish,including the ability to speak, read, and write professionally in both languages is an essential requirement of this position.\nKey Responsibilities\nRegional Leadership & People Management\nLead the Houston and Mobile branches, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and consistent operating practices.\nMaintain a regular onsite presence in Mobile and a structured cadence for branch reviews, leadership meetings, and employee communication.\nCoach and develop managers, supervisors, and employees; support workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, and retention.\nPartner with Human Resources to ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and effective resolution of employee-relations matters.\nPromote a professional, respectful, inclusive, and results-oriented workplace.\nFinancial & Business Performance\nOwn branch-level financial results, including budgets, forecasts, operating plans, and capital expenditure requests.\nMonitor revenue, volume, margin, labor, inventory, operating expenses, and other key performance indicators.\nIdentify and implement opportunities to improve profitability, productivity, cost control, and sustainable growth.\nProvide timely and accurate operational and financial updates to senior leadership.\nOperations, Safety & Compliance\nOversee material receiving, processing, storage, inventory control, quality, and shipping at both locations.\nEnsure staffing, equipment, workflows, and facility resources are aligned with production and customer requirements.\nDrive performance in productivity, quality, equipment utilization, downtime, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.\nChampion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company requirements and applicable OSHA, environmental, transportation, and regulatory standards.\nEnsure incidents, near misses, hazards, and compliance concerns are investigated promptly and corrective actions are completed.\nCustomer, Supplier & Commercial Support\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors, and other business partners.\nPartner with Commercial and Trading teams to coordinate material flow, inventory needs, customer commitments, and market opportunities.\nAddress service concerns promptly and represent ELG Metals professionally in the Houston and Mobile markets.\nRequired Qualifications\nFluency in English and Spanish, including professional speaking, reading, and writing ability in both languages.\nBachelor’s degree in business, operations management, supply chain, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.\nSeven or more years of progressively responsible experience in operations, manufacturing, recycling, metals, logistics, or another industrial environment.\nFive or more years of direct people-leadership experience.\nDemonstrated experience leading multiple locations, departments, or a geographically dispersed workforce.\nExperience managing budgets, financial performance, and operational key performance indicators.\nWorking knowledge of industrial safety and environmental compliance requirements.\nAbility to travel regularly between Houston and Mobile and as otherwise required by the business.\nValid driver’s license and ability to meet company travel requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in metals recycling, scrap processing, stainless steel, manufacturing, or a related industrial sector.\nResponsibility for branch-level or regional profit-and-loss performance, including operations involving heavy industrial equipment, material handling, transportation, and inventory management.\nExperience leading union and non-union workforces.\nFamiliarity with continuous-improvement practices.\nCore Competencies\nVisible, hands-on leadership with strong business judgment and financial acumen.\nAbility to interpret data, identify risks and opportunities, and translate findings into action.\nStrong communication, relationship-building, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.\nAbility to manage competing priorities across two locations and respond effectively to changing business needs.\nDemonstrated commitment to safety, ethics, compliance, accountability, and respectful workplace practices.\nPhysical & Work Environment Requirements\nThis position works in office and industrial yard environments and may involve outdoor weather, noise, dust, moving vehicles, and heavy equipment. The employee must be able to walk through operational areas, climb stairs, stand during facility inspections, and wear required personal protective equipment.
