This hands-on field position offers the opportunity to work on projects involving stormwater systems, bioretention facilities, concrete structures, drainage systems, and high-hazard dam repairs.\nThe ideal candidate has a construction background, practical field skills, and a willingness to travel for extended project assignments. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects for government agencies and commercial clients, helping restore and improve critical infrastructure.\nYour Responsibilities\nPerform hands-on field labor for construction, repair, and infrastructure improvement projects.\nAssist with the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of stormwater systems, bioretention facilities, detention and retention basins, concrete structures, and piping.\nSupport high-hazard dam repairs, earthwork, and other construction activities.\nOperate hand tools and heavy construction equipment, including skid loaders, backhoes, and excavators.\nCheck grades and elevations using measuring rods, lasers, and other surveying or construction instruments.\nApply appropriate construction techniques and follow project specifications.\nDocument field observations and maintain accurate project records.\nFollow applicable regulations, environmental requirements, and OSHA safety practices.\nLearn and apply relevant compliance procedures and sediment and erosion control practices.\nTravel to project sites throughout the United States, often for one to two weeks at a time.\nActively develop your technical skills and career path.\nWhat We're Looking For\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nOSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred. \nConstruction experience, preferably involving stormwater infrastructure, concrete structures, piping, or detention and retention basins.\nExperience operating heavy construction equipment, such as skid loaders, backhoes, and excavators, as well as hand tools.\nAbility to perform physically demanding manual labor in outdoor field conditions.\nKnowledge of sediment and erosion control practices.\nAbility to check grades and elevations and use measuring rods, lasers, or similar equipment.\nFamiliarity with safe construction practices and applicable OSHA regulations.\nComfortable driving pickup trucks and towing equipment trailers.\nValid driver's license and good driving record.\nWillingness to travel extensively and work away from home for extended assignments.\nGeneral carpentry and plumbing experience is a plus. Candidates with a broader construction background who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply.\nTravel and Field Work\nThis is a field-based position with no regular office attendance requirement. Projects may be located throughout the United States, with a concentration of work in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and other regions.\nAssignments typically last one to two weeks, with opportunities for longer stays depending on project needs. Employees generally return home approximately every two weeks when project schedules allow.\nApex supports business travel with company-arranged transportation, accommodations, and per diem.
