Additionally, this role is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's sign-on bonus program. \nApex is hiring a Sr Principal Engineer to be based in Eastern Washington. This role does require travel to Apex offices located in Richland and Walla Walla, WA. \nThis position will play a critical role in growing our Apex local presence and delivering multidiscipline projects throughout the state of Washington with our well-established engineering teams. This position will have a focused emphasis with state and local agencies in Eastern Washington with anticipated collaboration with our other local regional offices in Issaquah, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Walla Walla, Richland, and Boise. This individual will collaborate with our staff to lead business development strategies and support successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering teams across our existing Washington State offices. \nOur Apex offices have a significant historical presence within the communities we serve, averaging more than 20 years of local relationships with our agency and private development clients. You will be partnering with our local staff to leverage both your current and our Apex existing clients’ histories to support both marketing and project delivery goals while providing you well established turnkey relationships in support of your efforts. \nTypical projects include major roadway corridors, signalized intersections, roundabouts, bridges, multimodal facilities, ADA improvements, complete streets, and other multidisciplinary infrastructure improvements. These complex projects often involve state and federal funding to deliver roadway design, stormwater system design, utility coordination and design, traffic analysis and design, structure design, and construction management. \nIn addition to leading the infrastructure practice, this individual will also serve as a senior level engineering and project management resource to support Apex staff growth initiatives through implementation of industry best practices in partnership with Apex Regional Commercial Leadership (RCL) marketing team and the company wide Project Management Office (PMO) team. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, actively participating in the seller-doer model by developing new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of project managers and engineers to successfully deliver projects. \nPrimary Job Responsibilities: \nServe as the project manager with a delivery portfolio of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects with cumulative annual project totals exceeding $3 million, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and successful project delivery within schedule and budget. \nContribute to the successful pursuit and capture of more than $2 million in annual business development across Washington and Oregon, including support to client engagements, proposal preparation, interviews, and marketing effort alignment to strategic growth initiatives. \nLead business development efforts for infrastructure projects with Eastern Washington, southwest Washington, and with other agencies throughout northwest for which you have relationships. \nDevelop and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new project opportunities and expanding existing accounts. \nServe as Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge for complex infrastructure engineering projects from planning through construction. \nOversee project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction to ensure successful project execution within approved scopes and budgets. \nProvide technical leadership for roadway, highway, intersection, bridge, multimodal, and corridor improvement projects. \nCoordinate multidisciplinary teams, including roadway, drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines. \nEffectively manage multiple assignments and priorities while collaborating with the Principal-in-Charge and other senior leadership. \nPrepare and review technical reports, engineering studies, design documents, and project deliverables. \nMentor, coach, and develop junior engineers and project managers, fostering technical growth and leadership within the team. \nRepresent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations to strengthen market presence and support continued growth. \nPromote a collaborative, client-focused culture while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. \nRequired Qualifications: \nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. \n15+ years of progressive experience managing infrastructure projects for WSDOT and/or local agencies in Washington along with similar experience in Oregon. \nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in both Washington and Oregon, or the ability to obtain both within six months of hire. \nDemonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure design projects from pursuit through construction while keeping projects within scoped schedules and budgets. \nStrong knowledge of WSDOT Design Manual, AASHTO, MUTCD, and Washington State and local agency standards. \nExperience with project management, budgeting, scheduling, and client management. \nProficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D. \nExcellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. \nProven business development and client relationship experience. \nPreferred Qualifications: \nExperience with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and 3D roadway modeling. \nExisting relationships with Cities of College Place, Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, Walla Walla, and West Richland, Wenatchee, Spokane, and other regional transportation agencies across the northwest. \nExperience managing alternative delivery projects and multidisciplinary consultant teams. \nApex Historic & Current Project Delivery List: \nBroadmoor Development Infrastructure Improvement Project (City of Pasco) \nRegulatory Sign and Guardrail Safety Improvements Project (Skamania County) \nUS12 & Clinton Interchange (Walla Walla) \nCourt Street and Road 68 (Pasco) \nDuportail Corridor Improvements (Richland) \nPasco Aquatics \nBenton County Recover Center \nGoodwill -
