Additionally, this role is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's sign-on bonus program. \nApex is hiring an Area Manager to be based in Richland, WA. \nThe Area Manager (AM) will support the Division Manager (DM) in defining and driving local operations within their assigned Tri-Cities Area to achieve key performance indicator (KPI) benchmarks for Richland office group and associated staff delivering work in that Area. The Area Manager will support, collaborate on, and lead operations to achieve delivery and revenue goals. The AM will report directly to the DM and collaborate laterally with Practice Leads and Project Managers within their Area to support the business and operational functionality of the Division. \nThe AM will oversee staff including covering engineering, geotechnical, survey, and environmental disciplines in support of both Apex public and private clients. Our team is well engrained within the community, having supported many private developments, wineries, and public roadway and utility infrastructure within the Tri-Cities and surrounding communities. In addition to driving operational success within your area, collaboration with other area managers in Vancouver, Wenatchee, Walla Walla, Issaquah, and Boise, will be key when supporting efforts associated with marketing, workload balancing, and growing our presence across Washington. \nPrimary Job Responsibilities: \nEvaluate and report opportunities for growth within the Area and Division while working with the DM and Practice Leads to make hiring decisions and position the department for successful and profitable project delivery. \nSupport local Project Managers in developing scopes, fees, and SPTs and obtaining approval through the Signature Authority Matrix (SAM). \nOversee, track, and report project delivery KPIs, including delivery support, early identification of challenges, client engagement support, and strategies to resolve billing-related issues. \nParticipate in the ongoing project review process, including identifying delivery deficiencies, revenue at risk, and resolving issues with PMs, Practice Leads, and accounting staff within the Division. \nReport, track, and communicate Area-specific divisional business KPI metrics. \nTrack the project portfolio within the Area and foster cross-communication between offices, departments, and other Apex technical practices. \nParticipate in all hiring decisions within the Area prior to sending for Divisional and Regional hiring approvals. \nParticipate in personnel changes with Practice Leads and Project Managers as they relate to project delivery within the office. \nSupport preparation of Quarterly Business Summary for distribution to Division Manager, Practice Leads, and Market Sector Leads. \nOversee operations and delivery being carried out by area project managers both for Public and Private teams within their area. \nCommunicate effectively with other Area Managers within the Division and across the region to address workload and resourcing needs associated with project delivery. \nCommunicate effectively with Marketing, Talent Acquisition, and Business Office leads. \nReview project contracts and maintain signature authority for new contracts. The Area Manager is responsible for identifying contract change management with PMs within the Area and resolving payment disputes. \nResponsible for establishing and implementing project change procedures with PMs and Technical Leads for client-related changes. Also responsible for evaluating and supporting internal team changes with PMs when staff need to be moved off a project due to skill set limitations or performance concerns. \nTrack project closeout and follow up with PMs to identify project delivery challenges and implement contracting best practices within the Area to better align future project delivery efforts with KPIs and reduce project financial losses.\nFinancial Management: \nResponsible for managing financial performance within the Area. \nUnderstanding key business metrics \nTrack the practice portfolio of projects \nProvide quarterly reports to Division Manager \nComplete project reviews and work with Project Managers to address project challenges. \nResearch and understand aged accounts receivable and aged unbilled balances. \nTrack project challenges, budget overruns, scope issues, and related concerns. \nAttend office RevGen meetings. \nMaintain signature authority for contracts with clients and subcontractors according to SAM. \nTechnical Attributes: \nMaintain an in-depth understanding of the practice groups delivering work within the Area. \nUnderstand technical deliverables associated with each practice group. \nUnderstand contracts and change management strategies associated with practice group deliverables. \nUnderstand quality work products and typical client expectations. \nPeople Management: \nManage people as a supervisor and support other supervisors \nServe as a resource to Area supervisors and staff. \nEnforce consistent and timely completion of performance reviews. \nPractice active listening and serve as a resource for supervisors, PMs, and Practice Leads. \nRemain familiar with Apex hiring practices and facilitate coordination with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources teams. \nParticipate in the hiring process for new staff joining the office within the Division. \nWork with supervisors on terminations, departures, retention efforts, and other personnel matters. \nParticipate in performance reviews within the office and performance improvement plans (PIPs), as needed. \nCommunication Skills: \nCommunicate effectively with leadership, peers, supervisors, and staff. \nDemonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. \nUse mediation skills to address employee conflicts.
