Our spacecraft enable the future of society: ranging from earth observation to communications and more.\nWe’d love for you to join us on our mission of providing humankind access to the galaxy beyond our planet.\nAbout the Role\nAs Apex continues to expand its satellite manufacturing footprint, we are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to support and facilitate Apex EHS programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, supports and champions EHS systems daily, driving risk reduction across operations. This position is within an existing EHS team, partnering closely with Operations, Production, and Facilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nEnvironmental Programs & Compliance\nAssist in the administration and maintenance of environmental compliance processes for South Coast AQMD permitting, emissions controls, and recordkeeping.\n\nSupport CUPA programs including Hazardous Materials Business Plans, hazardous waste management, universal waste, and SPCC applicability.\n\nSustain core EHS programs including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, machine safety, ergonomics, PPE, contractor safety, and incident response.\n\nParticipate in continuous improvement related to sustainability performance, waste minimization initiatives aligned with corporate and site goals, and environmental metrics.\n\nSupport environmental monitoring programs, including air, water, wastewater, and waste characterizations, as required.\n\nSafety Programs\nParticipate in and assist in investigations and root cause analysis for injuries, near misses, spills, and property damage events, under the direction of the Facilities/EHS Department Leadership.\n\nHelp gather and document findings to support corrective action recommendations.\n\nSupport the review of site Process Hazard Analysis’ (PHAs) and audit processes to identify hazards and drive mitigation.\n\nFacilitate Safety Committee implementation, engagement and support safety culture initiatives across departments.\n\nSupport daily operational safety expectations in coordination with Operations and Facilities teams, including PPE readiness, eyewash checks, extinguisher verifications, and general floor-level observations.\n\nAssist the EHS team in verifying readiness of emergency equipment, signage, and response procedures across the site.\n\nProvide and/or coordinate specialized training such as first aid, CPR/AED, spill response fundamentals, and emergency drill participation as required.\n\nCalifornia Regulatory Compliance (Cal/OSHA)\nSupport Cal/OSHA Title 8 programs including but not limited to the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Heat Illness Prevention, Ergonomics, and Hazard Communication.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.\n\n2-5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similar industrial environments.\n\nStrong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, DTSC, CUPA, South Coast AQMD, LAFD, LASAN, and other local, state or federal regulatory authorities applicable to industrial facilities in the City of Los Angeles.\n\nExperience conducting incident investigations, delivering safety training, supporting regulatory inspections, and performing compliance audits.\n\nAbility to influence without direct authority and collaborate across functional groups.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office.\n\nAll applicants must be a U.S. Person due to export control requirements.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.\n\nExperience in aerospace manufacturing or closely related regulated industries.\n\nExperience with laser safety, lithium-ion battery safety, industrial hygiene monitoring, confined space operations, or PSM-adjacent processes.\n\nPhysical and Work Environment Requirements\nAbility to work across office, laboratory, warehouse, manufacturing, integration, and clean-room environments.\n\nAbility to use required PPE in designated production and construction areas.\n\nAbility to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and respond to field conditions.\n\nWhy Join Apex?\nApex believes in creating a work environment that you look forward to embracing every day.
