The role ensures high-quality, predictable delivery of annual major releases, interim minor releases, BAU fixes, and urgent client-priority features.\nPosition Responsibilities\nGeneral Role Responsibility\nAct as the single point of accountability for release and branch governance across the core SDLC and customer-specific delivery streams.\n\nCollaborate closely with Product, Business analysis, Development, QA, and executive stakeholders to align release outcomes with business priorities and client commitments.\n\nProvide regular, clear updates to senior management on release scope, risks, timelines, quality status, and dependencies.\n\nPromote and embed best practices in release discipline, quality assurance, traceability, and continuous improvement.\n\nCore Release & Branch Governance\nDefine, maintain, and enforce branching and release standards across major, minor, patch, and hotfix delivery paths.\n\nEstablish customer-specific branches at each major release baseline and manage their lifecycle, including scope control, tagging, versioning, and retirement.\n\nGovern merge/cherry-pick strategy between customer branches and the core SDLC branch to minimise branch drift, rework, and regression risk.\n\nEnsure complete change traceability across all branches, including approval records, test outcomes, release notes, and deployment history.\n\nSprint-Style Customer Release Strategy\nDesign and run a sprint-style customer release cadence for high-priority client features requiring accelerated delivery.\n\nFacilitate time-boxed planning and release checkpoints with customer stakeholders and internal teams to agree scope, acceptance criteria, and target production dates.\n\nEnsure customer-specific releases include only approved and prioritised changes, with no uncontrolled feature inclusion.\n\nCoordinate structured merge-back of customer-delivered features into the core SDLC branch following successful production release and validation.\n\nRelease Planning, QA, and Delivery Assurance\nOwn integrated release planning across annual major releases, interim minor releases, BAU fixes, and customer-priority feature drops.\n\nPartner with QA to define fit-for-purpose test strategy and regression scope for each release type and branch path.\n\nEnforce release readiness gates, including scope freeze, defect triage thresholds, test sign-off, deployment runbook completion, and rollback preparedness.\n\nLead go/no-go forums and release decision-making with relevant business and technical stakeholders.\n\nEnsure post-release validation, issue triage, and lessons-learned activities are completed and fed back into process improvements\n\nDevOps, Tooling, and Continuous Improvement\nWork with engineering teams to improve Azure DevOps/GitHub Enterprise workflows for build, deployment, and release automation.\n\nStandardise release artefacts and operational controls, including release calendars, checklists, branch policies, and communications templates.\n\nDefine and report release performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, escaped defects, cycle time, branch drift, and rework).\n\nIdentify and implement process improvements that increase delivery speed while maintaining stability, auditability, and quality.\n\nEssential Qualifications & Skills\n5+ years’ experience in software delivery, release management, DevOps, or a related IT discipline.\n\n2+ years’ hands-on experience managing multi-branch release models in an enterprise software environment.\n\nDemonstrated experience owning end-to-end release governance across major releases, minor releases, patches, and hotfixes.\n\nStrong practical expertise with Git branching strategies, merge/cherry-pick workflows, conflict resolution, and change traceability.\n\nIntermediate-to-advanced experience with GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOps, including pipelines, approvals, and release controls.\n\nProven capability to run a “sprint-style release cadence” for priority customer delivery within a non-Scrum SDLC framework.\n\nStrong understanding of QA collaboration, including risk-based testing, regression planning, defect triage, and release sign-off gates.\n\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including ability to influence senior leaders, technical teams, and client representatives.\n\nStrong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and governance discipline.\n\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-region, team-oriented environment.\n\nRelevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent commercial experience).\n\nDesirable (Highly Regarded)\nExperience in financial services, funds management, or another regulated domain.\n\nExposure to .NET Core, web applications, and SQL Server-based product environments.\n\nExperience defining release metrics and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nFamiliarity with audit/compliance expectations for controlled production releases.\n\nScrum Master, Agile, ITIL, DevOps, or related certification\n\nAdditional
