The role ensures that controls are effective, regulatory obligations are met, and risk frameworks are embedded to support sustainable business outcomes.\nWhat you will be doing\nProactively identify, assess, and report on business risks, ensuring adequacy and effectiveness of controls.\nAct as subject matter expert for the Apex NZ businesses, developing deep knowledge of key products, services, and risks.\nBuild and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the New Zealand operations.\nPartner with Line 2 Compliance to ensure emerging risks and regulatory obligations are managed effectively.\nLead risk assessments, testing, and oversight of remediation activities, ensuring timely and effective mitigation.\nSupport and monitor local risk reporting, and escalating significant issues as appropriate.\nProvide advice and training to business teams, including Operations, IT, and client-facing staff.\nCoordinate internal and external audit reviews, ensuring findings are addressed.\nAnalyse incidents and control breakdowns, ensuring lessons learned and control enhancements are implemented.\nMaintain the Risk Control Profile, Business Risk Assessments, and testing schedule.\nManage governance reporting (e.g. LARC, BARC), ensuring quality and timeliness of submissions.\nOversee business continuity planning and support business continuity exercises.\nSupport ongoing enhancement of risk policies, frameworks, and procedures.\nSkills Required:\nRelevant tertiary qualification.\nProfessional certification in risk, compliance, or auditing (preferred).\nStrong knowledge of risk frameworks in financial services.\nDemonstrated second line of defence experience.\nProven ability to influence and manage relationships with senior stakeholders.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nCollaborative team player, willing to lead or support as needed.\nWhat you will get in return:\n· A genuinely unique opportunity to be part of an expanding large global business;\n· Competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience;\n· Training and development opportunities\nAdditional information:\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and ensure that no applicant is subject to less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, gender identity, marital status, race, colour, nationality, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, responsibilities for dependants, physical or mental disability.
