Position Overview

The Senior Sales Solutions Engineer is the technical voice of API in the sales cycle. You will partner with Sales leadership and Client Delivery to understand airline and travel-operator requirements, design solutions on API’s SaaS platform, and show prospects and existing clients how our technology streamlines crew planning, accommodation sourcing, and day-of-operations management.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for a seasoned pre-sales professional who has sold complex, enterprise B2B SaaS and is comfortable engaging executives, operations leaders, and technical teams alike.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead technical discovery with airlines, cruise lines, rail operators, and travel partners to uncover operational pain points, integration needs, and success criteria.
  • Design and present tailored solutions on API’s SaaS platform, translating complex workflows (crew planning, hotel sourcing, transportation, disruption management) into clear business value.
  • Deliver compelling live demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and executive presentations to audiences ranging from operations teams to C-suite buyers.
  • Own the technical response for RFPs, RFIs, security questionnaires, and contract-stage technical negotiations in partnership with Sales and Legal.
  • Assess client systems and data flows (crew management, scheduling, and payment systems) and recommend API-based or file-based integration approaches.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Client Delivery to scope implementations, define timelines, and set realistic expectations before contract signature.
  • Maintain a clear handoff to Client Delivery so that commitments made in the sales cycle are carried through onboarding.
  • Partner with Account Executives on opportunity strategy, qualification, competitive positioning, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Capture market and customer feedback and communicate product gaps and opportunities to Product leadership.
  • Build and maintain demo environments, reusable assets, case studies, and technical sales collateral.
  • Represent API at industry conferences, webinars, and customer events.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical pre-sales, with a strong track record in enterprise B2B SaaS.
  • Demonstrated success supporting complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and contributing to six- and seven-figure SaaS deals.
  • Working knowledge of APIs (REST/JSON), data integration concepts, and enterprise security and compliance expectations.
  • Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and whiteboarding skills, with the ability to adapt to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong written communication, including RFP responses and solution documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and travel approximately 20-25%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the travel, airline, hospitality, transportation, or workforce-management technology space.
  • Experience with CRM and sales tooling (e.g., Salesforce, demo platforms, mutual action plans).
  • Familiarity with SQL, data visualization, or scripting for demos and proof-of-concepts.
  • Multilingual skills, particularly Spanish or Portuguese, are a plus given API’s global client base.
