If you are a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in underwriting, risk assessment, and medical/financial analysis, this is the perfect opportunity for you to take the next step in your career!\nBenefits & Perks:\nFull-remote opportunity within Canada \nCompetitive base salary and bonus \nComprehensive Benefits Package: Effective from Day 1\nRetirement Plan: Pension kicks in after 3 months\nPaid Time Off: 3 to 4 weeks of vacation\nFlexible Benefits Plan\nGrowth Opportunities: Gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, learn new automated underwriting products, and advance in your career\nResponsibilities:\nOrder APS and other relevant information, conducting research and analysis on medical/financial records, applicant insurance history, and other data sources, including confidential medical information through the Medical Information Bureau (MIB).\nDocument findings efficiently in underwriting systems, completing full assessments of applicants’ risk profiles and verifying appropriate premium classifications.\nDetermine if remedial action is necessary for existing policies, including rescission or reformation of contracts, while consulting with the Medical Director and Chief Underwriter for complex cases.\nCommunicate decisions effectively with producers and applicants, both verbally and in writing (English and French).\nMaintain accurate records and statistics of actions taken.\nOccasionally review new business, reinstatements, and change requests.\nContribute to initiatives to automate and streamline the underwriting auditing process, helping to improve efficiency.\nQualifications:\nFluency in English and French\nMinimum of 4 years of underwriting experience in life insurance\nExperience reading and interpreting Attending Physician Statements (APS).\nStrong knowledge of underwriting theory, principles, methods, systems, and processes.\nAbility to communicate effectively with agents and producers, explaining underwriting decisions clearly.\nKnowledge of life insurance, critical illness, and simplified products\nAbility to work independently in a remote setting, with flexibility for hybrid work in Toronto.\nDavid Aplin & Associates Inc., operating as Aplin, and its associated brands, CompuStaff and Impact Recruitment, is an award-winning employment agency connecting diverse, top-tier talent with exceptional organizations across North America.
