Our client, a leader in their field, has partnered with Aplin to grow their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia!\nPosition Summary\nThe Senior Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities for assigned materials and commodities, including high-value purchases typically exceeding $250,000 and non-routine procurement requirements. This role ensures purchasing activities align with company policies, contractual obligations, and established procurement procedures. The Senior Buyer works closely with suppliers and internal departments to resolve procurement and quality issues, maintain accurate purchasing records, and support efficient supply chain operations.\nContract Duration: 1-year renewable contract\nKey Responsibilities\nManage procurement activities for assigned materials and commodities, including high-value purchases and non-routine procurement requirements.\nEnsure purchasing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and established procurement procedures.\nProcess purchase requisitions, purchase orders, purchase change orders, and requests for quotation (RFQs).\nCoordinate with suppliers to obtain quotations, clarify requirements, and resolve procurement-related issues.\nManage nonconforming material reports within the quality management system, coordinating supplier defect reports, return material authorizations (RMAs), and corrective actions.\nCollaborate with Quality, Receiving, Accounts Payable, and other internal stakeholders to resolve material discrepancies, invoice issues, and receiving errors.\nFollow up on outstanding supplier issues and invoice discrepancies to support timely vendor payments and minimize procurement delays.\nProvide day-to-day procurement support to Supply Chain leadership, assisting with purchasing priorities and issue resolution.\nMaintain accurate procurement records and documentation to support internal processes, compliance, and audit requirements.\nQualifications and Experience\nTypically, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field and 4+ years of related experience, or an associate degree in a related field and 6+ years of related experience.\nExperience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing or technical environment.\nExperience managing high-value and non-routine procurement activities.\nFamiliarity with formal procurement procedures and contractual compliance requirements.\nExperience processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, purchase change orders, and RFQs.\nKnowledge of supplier quality processes, nonconforming materials, RMAs, and corrective actions.\nExperience resolving invoice discrepancies, receiving errors, and supplier-related issues.\nStrong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate documentation and attention to detail.\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
