This on-site opportunity is ideal for an experienced industrial construction professional with extensive knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazardous energy isolation, and field coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating site isolation activities and ensuring equipment and systems are safely controlled throughout construction, commissioning, testing, and energization.\nCompensation & Benefits\nCompensation: $80-$90/hour\n1-year contract\nFull-time, 40 hours/week\nFully on-site role based in Edmonton, AB\nKey Responsibilities\nCoordinate and administer the site’s Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program and approved hazardous energy isolation procedures\nReview work scopes and isolation requirements to identify hazardous energy sources and confirm appropriate isolation points before work begins\nCoordinate electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, and other hazardous energy isolations\nMaintain the LOTO register, isolation documentation, and associated records\nCoordinate the issuance, modification, suspension, and removal of isolation documentation\nWork closely with construction, commissioning, operations, HSE, electrical, mechanical, and contractor teams to coordinate isolation activities\nConduct field verifications and audits of locks, tags, and isolation points against approved drawings and isolation plans\nEnsure stored and residual energy is appropriately controlled and isolation boundaries are maintained\nCoordinate complex, multi-discipline isolations involving multiple systems, contractors, and work groups\nSupport shift handovers by communicating active isolations, equipment status, and outstanding work\nCoordinate LOTO requirements as systems progress through construction completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization, and turnover\nSupport temporary energization and testing activities where existing isolation boundaries require modification\nWork with system owners to establish clear equipment ownership, isolation authority, and system boundaries before initial energization\nMonitor compliance with project LOTO procedures and applicable safety regulations\nParticipate in LOTO audits, incident investigations, and corrective action reviews\nIdentify and escalate compromised or incomplete isolations and stop work where personnel safety may be at risk\nQualifications\n10+ years of experience in industrial construction, maintenance, operations, or commissioning\nSubstantial hands-on experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy isolation\nExperience working on major industrial projects within oil and gas, hydrogen, petrochemical, power generation, mining, or other heavy industrial environments\nStrong understanding of electrical and mechanical isolation principles and hazardous energy control\nAbility to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment drawings, line lists, and system boundary documentation\nWorking knowledge of permit-to-work systems, commissioning, energization, and system turnover processes\nDemonstrated experience coordinating multiple contractors, disciplines, and simultaneous work activities in an active field environment\nStrong field presence, safety awareness, and attention to detail\nExcellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills\nAn electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, operations, or safety-related background is considered an asset\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
