The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the organization’s long-term business objectives.\nThe Controller will lead the accounting team, oversee month-end and year-end financial activities, and ensure the timely delivery of reliable financial information to senior leadership, business partners, and other stakeholders. This role requires a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, effective people leadership, sound financial judgment, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the accounting team and oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing.\nManage the month-end close process and ensure financial statements are completed within established deadlines.\nReview monthly financial results, investigate variances, and provide analysis to management and business leaders.\nOversee cash management, including cash flow forecasting, intercompany collections, and fund transfers.\nManage financial reporting provided to lenders, business partners, and other external stakeholders.\nMaintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across the organization.\nProvide accounting guidance on complex and non-routine transactions in accordance with applicable GAAP.\nLead the annual audit process, including preparation of working papers, review of audit requests, and communication with external auditors.\nOversee corporate tax reporting and work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.\nCoordinate regulatory and third-party audits, including CRA reviews and business partner reporting audits.\nSupport the preparation and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.\nWork with business managers and senior leadership to address accounting questions and support financial decision-making.\nOversee the company’s ERP and accounting systems, including upgrades, configuration changes, and system improvements.\nIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting, and automate manual activities.\nLead, coach, and develop the accounting team while supporting special projects and other financial initiatives as required.\nRequirements\nDesignated CPA\n7+ years of accounting experience\n5+ years of leadership experience\nPublic practice experience is an asset.\nCompensation and Benefits\nSalary: $140,000 to $150,000\n4 weeks’ vacation\nDiscretionary bonus\nExtended health and dental benefits\nHybrid work schedule (2 days in office)\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
