Our client, a leader in their field, has partnered with Aplin to grow their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia!\nJob Description\nWorking under general supervision, the Towed Array Technician assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies and systems. The role involves working with technical drawings, test equipment, and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with specifications.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of electronic assemblies and subassemblies.\nAssemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electromechanical assemblies and subassemblies.\nAssemble, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair complete systems in accordance with specifications, diagrams, and drawings.\nAssemble various types of strength members in accordance with specifications, diagrams, and drawings.\nOperate various types of environmental chambers.\nApply technical knowledge to perform timely testing and troubleshooting of complex products.\nConfigure test equipment and build electronic jigs and fixtures.\nApply appropriate electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.\nSet up and operate test equipment and maintain test records for operator verification.\nCoordinate activities with other departments to ensure continuity of operations, as required.\nMaintain test equipment.\nCompile and analyze records and statistics and prepare test and failure reports as required.\nApply formulas and perform calculations as required.\nManage engineering changes by accessing relevant information, communicating updates to team members, and maintaining build configuration.\nMaintain production quality and output in accordance with production schedules.\nIdentify workmanship and material non-conformances and initiate investigations.\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.\nAssist in the design of jigs and fixtures.\nRecommend design changes based on technical knowledge and experience.\nMaintain tools and work areas in a safe, orderly, and clean condition.\nRequired Skills and Qualifications\nGrade 12 education, along with a recognized community college technician/technologist qualification or equivalent experience and capability.\nAbility to obtain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and meet all requirements to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.\nWillingness to work, day, evening, and back shifts.\nDesired Skills and Qualifications\nCurrent knowledge of electronic materials, principles, circuit construction, and quality control procedures.\nGood working knowledge of recognized industry workmanship standards.\nSoldering skills that meet recognized industry workmanship standards.\nAbility to work from verbal instructions, sketches, drawings, and wiring diagrams.\nStrong mechanical aptitude.\nProficiency with basic software applications, including email, web browsers, word processing, and databases.\nExcellent problem-solving skills.\nGood verbal and written communication skills.\nUnderstanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.\nAbility to maintain high productivity without compromising quality standards.\nPositive, can-do attitude and willingness to adapt to and support change.\nStrong attention to detail.\nAbility to collaborate closely with others, build trust and respect, and contribute effectively as part of a team.\nPhysical and Technical Requirements\nWillingness to use handheld power tools and equipment, including routers, Dremel tools, drills, and drill presses.\nWillingness to operate overhead cranes and winches.\nWillingness to operate common test equipment, including digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and measuring devices.\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
