This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role supporting a diverse portfolio of companies across commercial real estate, energy, manufacturing and other industries.\nThe organization is actively growing through acquisitions and currently oversees numerous subsidiary companies. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, takes pride in accurate and timely work, and wants to be part of a small, collaborative accounting team.\nThis position will begin as a 3-month contract, fully onsite in Nisku, with potential to transition into a permanent role.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nManage full-cycle accounting for approximately 9-12 companies.\nPrepare accurate and timely monthly financial information.\nComplete bank reconciliations, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.\nMaintain fixed asset schedules and prepare depreciation calculations.\nProcess and reconcile intercompany transactions between related entities.\nPrepare GST/PST reporting, payments and registrations.\nSupport government, WCB and other compliance reporting requirements.\nAssist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.\nReview accounts, investigate discrepancies and respond to financial reporting inquiries.\nComplete foreign exchange calculations and accounting related to banking, AP, AR and intercompany transactions.\nProvide vacation coverage for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when required.\nProcess full-cycle payroll for some smaller companies, including payroll journal entries, accruals and related balance sheet reconciliations.\nAssist with process improvements and the development of accounting procedures as the organization continues to grow.\nSupport additional accounting projects and responsibilities as required.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n3-5+ years of progressive, hands-on full-cycle accounting experience.\nExperience with accounting for multiple companies or legal entities is required.\nAccounting diploma, bookkeeping certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nExperience with commercial property accounting is strongly preferred.\nStrong knowledge of bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end procedures and financial reporting.\nWorking knowledge of GAAP/ASPE.\nUnderstanding of foreign exchange calculations and transactions.\nStrong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.\nStrong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.\nSage and QuickBooks Desktop/Online experience is an asset.\nExperience with accounting for US companies is a strong asset.\nAutoPoint or Journey experience would be highly valued.\nCeridian or other payroll experience is an asset.\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
