This position will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit preparation, and vendor-related accounting processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring financial information is accurate and properly maintained within SAP.\nThe Opportunity\nOur client is a privately owned Canadian manufacturing company with an established reputation in the Edmonton market. The organization designs and manufactures specialized industrial products for customers within the energy sector and works with vendors and business partners across multiple countries.\nThis position offers an opportunity to become part of an experienced and collaborative finance team while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting functions, including international transactions, financial reporting, compliance, and month-end activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn and execute the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.\nConduct detailed variance analysis, identify key business drivers, and provide actionable insights to leadership\nPrepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.\nSupport year-end audit activities by preparing audit schedules, providing supporting documentation, and partnering closely with external auditors.\nAssist with the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support business planning and decision-making.\nManage fixed asset accounting and intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.\nContribute to cost accounting activities, including manufacturing cost analysis and investigation of production variances.\nPartner cross-functionally with operations to understand business drivers, assess financial performance, and provide informed financial guidance.\nIdentify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve operational and financial efficiencies.\nAd hoc duties as needed\nRequirements\n5+ years of accounting experience\nStrong SAP experience is required\nCPA designation preferred, or actively pursuing a CPA designation\nExperience with financial reporting and reconciliations\nExposure to audit processes and requirements\n5 days in office role\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
