They’re adding an experienced Commercial Underwriting Specialist to help grow and manage a profitable mid-market portfolio in Ontario.\nCompensation\n$115,000 to $140,000 or more depending on relevant experience\nBenefits & Perks\nPerformance based bonus\nRetirement savings/pension plan\nGenerous benefits coverage\nLot of opportunity for long-term growth internally\nHybrid work schedule (2 days per week in office)\nResponsibilities\nManage and grow a profitable commercial P&C portfolio (new business, renewals, endorsements)\nMaintain and deepen broker relationships through regular engagement, including broker visits/meetings\nNegotiate coverage and pricing, ensuring alignment with underwriting appetite and profitability goals\nUse portfolio metrics to support decision-making and performance management\nComplete required documentation and participate in underwriting audits as needed\nContribute to a strong team environment and mentor/coach junior colleagues\nQualifications\n8-10+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience in a carrier setting (mid-market exposure strongly preferred)\nHands-on underwriting expertise in Construction & Manufacturing is preferred\nDemonstrated ability to build trusted broker relationships (broker-facing experience preferred)\nStrong analytical/portfolio mindset and comfort working with performance metrics\nConfident communicator with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach\nCIP designation is an asset (or working toward it)\nAt Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
