This role provides technical leadership for networking technologies including firewalls, switching, wireless, VPN, and WAN connectivity, while also acting as a senior infrastructure resource supporting server, virtualization, cloud, identity, and operational platforms.\nThe successful candidate will own day-to-day network operations while serving as a backup resource for on-premises infrastructure, datacenter systems, and critical enterprise services. This position works closely with Cyber Security, Modern Workplace, Cloud Engineering, Service Desk, and third-party vendors to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology services globally.\nResponsibilities\nNetwork Architecture & Operations\nServe as the primary technical owner for the corporate networking environment.\n\nPerform capacity planning and lifecycle management of networking equipment.\n\nLead network upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.\n\nDevelop and maintain network standards and documentation.\n\nDesign, implement, and support:\nLayer 2 & Layer 3 switching\n\nEnterprise wireless networks\n\nSite-to-site VPNs\n\nSD-WAN and WAN connectivity\n\nInternet edge and perimeter infrastructure\n\nMaintain and optimize:\nWatchGuard firewalls\n\nSwitch infrastructure\n\nWireless access points\n\nNetwork monitoring systems\n\nInfrastructure & Systems Administration\nAct as a secondary resource for:\nWindows Server\n\nLinux Server platforms\n\nHyper-V\n\nVMware environments\n\nStorage and backup systems\n\nSupport datacenter and branch infrastructure deployments.\n\nAssist with hardware lifecycle replacements and infrastructure refresh projects.\n\nParticipate in disaster recovery planning and testing.\n\nProvide escalation support for complex infrastructure incidents.\n\nSupport network connectivity to cloud platforms.\n\nSecurity & Compliance\nImplement and maintain secure network configurations.\n\nSupport vulnerability remediation and infrastructure hardening efforts.\n\nParticipate in incident response and infrastructure security investigations.\n\nMaintain network segmentation and firewall policies.\n\nMonitoring & Operational Excellence\nAssist/Maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms.\n\nInvestigate and resolve network and infrastructure performance issues.\n\nDevelop automation and operational efficiencies where appropriate.\n\nParticipate in an on-call rotation for critical infrastructure services.\n\nExperience\n3+ years supporting enterprise network environments.\n\n3+ years of systems administration experience.\n\nExperience supporting multi-site organizations.\n\nExperience managing firewall, switching, wireless, and VPN technologies.\n\nExperience supporting virtualization platforms.\n\nExperience supporting production infrastructure in hybrid cloud environments.\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrong knowledge of:\nTCP/IP\n\nRouting protocols\n\nVLANs\n\nDNS\n\nDHCP\n\nVPN technologies\n\nNetwork troubleshooting\n\nHands-on experience with:\nWatchGuard Firewalls\n\nEnterprise Switching\n\nEnterprise Wireless Infrastructure\n\nWindows Server\n\nActive Directory\n\nEntra ID\n\nHyper-V\n\nVMware\n\nAzure\n\nAWS\n\nMicrosoft 365 administration\n\nServiceNow\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nCCNA or CCNP\n\nHPE or WatchGuard certifications\n\nMicrosoft Azure certification\n\nAWS certification\n\nMicrosoft Windows Server certification\n\nSecurity+ or equivalent security certification\n\nExperience with PowerShell automation\n\nExperience with infrastructure monitoring platforms\n\nOther Details\nThis is a full-time role based remotely out of Ottawa, Ontario.\nBenefits - extended health and dental coverage, paid vacation and participation in our employer-supported retirement savings program.\nSalary - $90,000- $105,000\nWe appreciate your interest, and promise to review all applications, but we will only be contacting those who best fit the requirements.\nWe welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities.
