{"id":2196038,"url":"https://alion.io/job/apple-eve-operator-assistant-retort","title":"Operator, Assistant - Retort","company":{"id":3796137,"name":"Apple & Eve","domain":"appleandeve.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/appleandeve-2","size_band":"501-1000","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"ADP","truth_index":{"grade":"B","score":75,"open_postings":13,"ghost_share":0,"stale_share":1,"repost_share":0,"time_to_fill_p50_days":48,"computed_at":"2026-10-13T05:45:00Z"}},"role":"Field & Service","role_family":"Field & Service","seniority":null,"employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"inferred","locations":[],"countries":[],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-09T16:55:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-09","last_verified_at":"2026-10-13T01:55:35Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":3,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":3},"description":"Job Description\nJob Title: Retort Operator Assistant\nReports to: Production Supervisor\nFLSA Status: Non-Exempt\nLocation(s): Boardman, Ohio\nLast Updated: March 2025\nDirect Reports: None\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nSafely and properly load and unload retort cages, support retort operations and paperwork requirements, and ensure compliance with GMP, SQF, food safety, and company operating standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafely and properly change over and operate equipment located in the immediate retort work area.\nProperly and thoroughly clean and sanitize the immediate work area.\nHelp load and unload retort cages as needed.\nPerform operator-level adjustments and preventative maintenance on equipment.\nAccurately complete all required paperwork and touchscreen entries.\nEnsure completion of rework activities, including directing and training temporary workers when required.\nFollow SGFM, Quality, SQF, GMP, OSHA, and Preventive Controls procedures and regulations.\nMaintain a working knowledge of weights, measurements, measurement conversions, and kettle batching.\nBuild a team environment within the work area and throughout the organization.\nComplete instructions and goals assigned by the supervisor.\nOperate forklifts and pallet jacks as required after certification and training.\nWork effectively under pressure while multitasking.\nEnsure retort cages are stored safely and assist with loading and unloading activities.\nPerform daily maintenance and safety checks on warehouse equipment.\nMaintain and protect all entrusted property in excellent condition.\nOperate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.\nWork safely at all times, following OSHA, DOT, and company safety rules and regulations.\nQualifications & Skills Required\nEducation & Experience:\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred.\nFood manufacturing experience preferred.\nEquipment operation experience preferred.\nTechnical Skills:\nAbility to operate retort area equipment safely.\nForklift and pallet jack operation capability.\nBasic mathematics, reading, and production documentation skills.\nAbility to read and write English fluently.\nSoft Skills & Competencies:\nStrong teamwork and collaboration skills.\nAbility to follow directions and production schedules.\nAttention to detail and food safety compliance.\nAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong communication and problem-solving skills.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:\nThis position requires the physical ability to safely perform manufacturing and retort support activities in a food production environment.\nFrequent lifting of materials up to and including 50 pounds.\nAbility to push and pull materials up to 700 pounds.\nFrequently required to stand, walk, and bend.\nManual dexterity with the ability to reach with hands and arms.\nFrequently climb ladders and stairs.\nAble to work in hot/humid environments exceeding 110°F and cold environments below -20°F.\nFREQUENT: Standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, equipment operation, and sanitation activities.\nOCCASIONAL: Climbing, working in extreme temperatures, operating powered equipment, and rework activities.\nVISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.\nHEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.\nThis job description is not intended to contain a comprehensive list of the responsibilities that are required to successfully perform in this position.
