We work with the utmost attention to detail, directly impacting the design of products that millions of people around the world love.\nDescription\nAs a Materials Engineering Manager within the Product Design organization, you will lead a team that develops new plastic materials and processes to meet the structural and aesthetic requirements across a wide range of part designs and in support of Apple’s ambitious design goals. This position is part of the Polymers Materials team within Materials Engineering.\nThe candidate will be responsible for managing engineers who identify, develop, and implement new plastics materials used across Apple hardware products. They will foster collaborative relationships with Apple suppliers in order to influence product development to meet material needs anticipated in future Apple product designs. They will collaborate with product design and industrial design groups on material selection, design feasibility and aesthetics of new plastic part designs. They will help deliver Apple’s materials environmental goals and reduce the carbon footprint of plastics.\nThis position will require a high level of autonomy and effective communication as well as the management of multiple projects in parallel.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Organic Chemistry and 10+ years in plastics industry\nStrong materials fundamentals in plastic material properties, part design and fabrication\nExperience managing engineering teams who are responsible for plastics development, formulation, compounding, or manufacturing\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use statistical tools and techniques\nEffective written and verbal communication skills;
