Our services support millions of customer transactions and integrate with major carriers worldwide.\nDescription\nAs a Software Engineer on the Carrier Services team, you'll build and support the backend services that power device activation and carrier experiences across Apple's online and retail channels. You'll work across the full development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, release, and production support. Working closely with carrier partners and cross-functional teams, you'll help deliver reliable, seamless experiences for customers around the world.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nYou'll design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that support order management, pricing, and device activation. You'll work with engineering, QA, product, and carrier partners to solve complex problems, improve service performance and reliability, and troubleshoot issues in production. You'll also contribute to technical design discussions, review code, and help strengthen engineering practices across the team.\nMinimum Qualifications\n5+ years proven experience developing software in a professional capacity\n2+ years proven experience with Java, including proficiency in concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization techniques\nExperience building production applications with the Spring ecosystem (e.g. Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Cloud, etc.), including proficiency in dependency injection, auto-configuration, reactive programming with WebFlux, and designing microservices using Spring-based patterns\nExperience in API design and implementation, including proficiency in RESTful API principles, gRPC, GraphQL, contract-first design (e.g. OpenAPI/Swagger, Protobuf, etc.), API versioning strategies, gateway patterns, rate limiting, and designing APIs for backward compatibility and long-term evolution\nExperience with message-driven and event-driven architectures, including proficiency in messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, etc.), event sourcing, CQRS patterns, and designing reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services\nB.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience using relational (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.) databases, including proficiency in schema design, query optimization, performance tuning (e.g. execution plan analysis, indexing strategy, and query rewriting)\nSolid knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and infrastructure (e.g. HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP, CDN, load balancing, edge computing, DNS, Zero Trust architecture, etc.)\nExperience implementing authentication and authorization systems, including proficiency in identity protocols (e.g. OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWT, etc.), single sign-on (SSO) architectures, role-based and attribute-based access control (RBAC/ABAC), and integration with identity providers and directory services\nComfortable using CI/CD tools to build, test, deploy, and release containerized software applications on cloud-based Kubernetes (e.g. AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Azure AKS, etc.)\nExperience with caching strategies and in-memory data technologies (e.g. Redis, Memcached, Hazelcast, Ehcache, etc.), including proficiency in cache invalidation patterns, distributed caching architectures, and
