The Electrical Design Engineer interprets customer and site requirements, defines electrical specifications, supports certification and compliance activities, and produces detailed documentation for manufacturing and testing. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and engineering partners while contributing to design standardization, process improvements, and on-site engineering discussions in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. \nAs a Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution , you will:\nOwn all electrical design activities for a product line redesign effort\nDevelop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, and layout drawings using industry-standard CAD tools\nInterpret customer specifications, site requirements, and technical constraints to create accurate, compliant electrical system solutions\nDefine electrical specifications, component selections, and system architectures for power distribution equipment including switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and docking stations\nProduce detailed technical documentation supporting manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer requests\nCollaborate with SMEs, cross-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project\nEnsure electrical designs meet safety, performance, manufacturability, and relevant code/standard requirements\nSupport certification and compliance activities including UL 1008, UL 508, UL 1640, NEC, and other applicable standards\nMaintain electrical documentation, BOMs, and revisions within ERP, PLM, and Vault systems\nContribute to process improvements, modularization, and design standardization initiatives\nParticipate in design reviews, prototyping sessions, and on-site engineering discussions\nWork collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners\nContribute to projects that impact communities in the greater Minneapolis metro\nApply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering\nExperience in electrical design for custom-engineered power distribution or electromechanical systems\nProficiency with electrical CAD tools for schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings\nExperience interpreting customer specifications and site requirements to develop electrical system solutions\nKnowledge of electrical design best practices including safety, performance, manufacturability, and compliance\nExperience creating technical documentation to support manufacturing, testing, and certification\nExperience with switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, or related power distribution equipment\nFamiliarity with UL standards such as UL 1008, UL 508, and UL 1640\nExperience with ERP, PLM, and engineering vault systems for managing design documentation and BOMs\nBackground in process improvement, modularization, or design automation\nProject management experience including coordinating cross-functional teams and tracking deliverables strongly preferred\nCapable of working independently and as a team member\nStrong work ethic and unwavering integrity\nExcellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset\nCuriosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking\nEffective verbal and written communication\nDesire to work on a variety of projects\nESTIMATED PAY RANGE\nEngineer I: $40.45-$46.52/hour\nEngineer II: $44.14-$50.76/hour\nEngineer III: $47.83-$55.00/hour\nSenior Engineer: $51.51-$59.24/hour\nFinal compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations.
