We welcome candidates from the St. Paul metro and beyond to apply. \nEmployees working in Shoreview, MN have a short commute from Roseville, Arden Hills, New Brighton, Mounds View, Vadnais Heights, Little Canada, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Lino Lakes, and Blaine, and will enjoy professional growth and community engagement through our regional presence in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.\nAs a Machine Design Engineer, you will:\nDesign and engineer large-scale, low-volume mechanical systems including cranes, welded structures, and custom critical-handling equipment\nDevelop automation and robotic mechanisms for extreme-duty lifting, motion, and precision-handling applications\nLead mechanical design activities from concept through modeling, detailing, and release using SolidWorks\nTrack and manage project requirements, ensuring technical accuracy and on-schedule execution\nFacilitate internal and customer design reviews, presenting concepts, engineering decisions, and progress updates\nMentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with chief and principal engineers to refine design approaches\nProvide technical guidance to support new business initiatives and custom engineered-to-order lifting solutions\nPartner with cross-functional engineering groups to establish new design standards and contribute to continuous improvement\nSupport fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning of large mechanical systems, including occasional travel to customer sites\nInnovate mechanical solutions for unique lifting, motion, and automation challenges not found in traditional factory environments\nWork collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners\nContribute to projects that impact communities in Roseville, Arden Hills, New Brighton, Mounds View, Vadnais Heights, Little Canada, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Lino Lakes, and Blaine and the greater St. Paul metro\nApply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering\n5+ years of experience in machine design, automation, heavy equipment, or large-scale mechanical systems\nProficiency in 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks strongly preferred\nAbility to lead and manage complex machine or automation designs from concept through detailing and release\nDemonstrated ownership of engineering projects with a track record of driving them to completion\nStrong planning, organizational, and communication skills\nExperience mentoring or guiding individuals or teams through mechanical design processes\nWillingness to travel for installation and commissioning support (typically <10%, periodically up to 25%)\nCapable of working independently and as a team member\nStrong work ethic and unwavering integrity\nExcellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset\nCuriosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking\nEffective verbal and written communication\nDesire to work on a variety of projects\nESTIMATED PAY RANGE\nEngineer I: $34.62-$40.38/hour\nEngineer II: $38.46-$44.23/hour\nEngineer III: $43.27-$49.04/hour\nSenior Engineer: $46.63-$53.85/hour\nFinal compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations.
