You will also coordinate the procurement and assembly of components, identify sources of critical parts, and resolve technical issues to ensure peak performance.Job Description: Senior Cable Design Engineer\nWe are looking for a highly experienced Senior Cable Design Engineer to serve as the technical authority for cable and harness design across advanced semiconductor equipment platforms.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nYou will own critical cable and interconnect decisions from architecture through production and field support, lead cross-functional technical activities, and drive standardization, cost, quality, and supplier improvements.\nOur Group: R&D\nThe team develops and supports cable and harness solutions for complex multidisciplinary semiconductor equipment, working closely with module design, routing, manufacturing, sourcing, and global suppliers.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nServe as the primary technical authority and owner for all cable and harness design decisions, including cable architecture, interconnect strategy, cable technology selection, and connector selection.\nDesign, develop, and maintain cable and harness assemblies, electrical interconnects, and related documentation for advanced semiconductor equipment platforms.\nDefine cable architectures, connector interfaces, shielding, grounding, and EMC solutions for complex electromechanical systems.\nCreate, review, and approve cable BOMs, engineering drawings, specifications, and release documentation.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex cable, interconnect, manufacturing, and field-related issues with limited supervision.\nLead design-for-cost, standardization, and commonality initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost, and enhance supply chain robustness.\nDefine, coordinate, and support engineering validation activities, qualification testing, and failure analysis of cable and harness solutions.\nTechnically lead cable-related engineering projects and support the development, qualification, and management of key suppliers.\nCollaborate with module designers, routing engineers, manufacturing engineers, sourcing teams, and suppliers to deliver robust and scalable solutions.\nSupport pilot builds, production ramp activities, ECO implementation, and field issue resolution.\nServe as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers and designers and lead cross-functional project teams as required.\nClearly communicate complex technical information and build consensus across engineering, operations, and supplier organizations.\nWhat you should have?\nMinimum Qualifications\nElectrical Engineering diploma, or equivalent technical education.\n10+ years of experience in cable and harness design, electrical interconnects, or electromechanical systems.\nExperience designing static, dynamic, cleanroom, and vacuum-compatible cable assemblies.\nExperience with cable BOM creation, connector selection, engineering documentation, and product release processes.\nExperience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments and leading technical activities across functions.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in semiconductor capital equipment design and development.\nStrong knowledge of cable technologies, connector systems, EMC, grounding, shielding, and motion-control applications.\nExperience with E3Series (E3S) or similar electrical design and documentation tools.\nDemonstrated experience driving standardization, commonality, cost-reduction, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.\nExperience working directly with global suppliers, including technical evaluations, qualification activities, and cost optimization programs.\nStrong knowledge of industry best practices, product lifecycle processes, and design control methodologies.\nDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead technical projects and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.\nWho we are?\nApplied Materials Israel is home to the Process Diagnostics and Control business unit (PDC).
