Our innovations enable the technologies shaping the future, from advanced computing and AI to next-generation semiconductor devices.\nWe are seeking a highly motivated finance professional to serve as the Finance Business Partner for IMS (Integrated Materials Solutions) within SPG. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of finance, technology, and business strategy, partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to shape R&D investment decisions, optimize resources, and support profitable growth.\nThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of Applied Materials’ technology and R&D portfolio while influencing how investments are prioritized across programs. The role owns financial planning and analysis for the IMS development portfolio, including OpEx, capital investments, project prioritization, and R&D business cases.\nThis position is ideal for someone who enjoys going beyond reporting the numbers to understand the business, develop insights, challenge assumptions, and influence decisions. The role requires strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work independently across a complex, global organization.\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as the primary Finance Business Partner for IMS, providing financial insights and recommendations to business and R&D leadership.\nOwn financial planning and analysis for the IMS R&D portfolio, including OpEx, capital investments, labor, depreciation, allocations, and controllable spending.\nLead quarterly and annual planning processes, translating technology and program priorities into financial plans and presenting recommendations to senior management.\nPartner with business and operations leaders to prioritize R&D investments and allocate resources across programs during key portfolio and financial planning cycles.\nDevelop ROI, NPV, and business-case models for strategic R&D programs, helping leadership evaluate investment choices and long-term value creation.\nProvide financial leadership through key business cycles, including quarterly close, forecasting, QBR, AOP, and strategic reviews.\nPartner with Finance and BU teams to improve financial processes, reporting, and analytics using Anaplan, SAP BPC, Tableau, and Project Resource Management (PRM).\nTurn financial and operational data into a clear business story, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for management.\nPartner on the SPG capital planning process, including capital budgeting, portfolio reviews, investment tracking, and post-investment analysis.\nDrive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and decision support while contributing to other strategic and ad hoc business analysis.\nKey Expectations\nThe successful candidate will:\nBecome a trusted finance partner who brings both financial discipline and business perspective to decision-making.\nDevelop a strong understanding of the underlying technology, products, customers, and investment drivers behind the IMS portfolio.\nTranslate complex financial and operational information into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.\nProactively identify risks and opportunities rather than simply reporting historical results.\nHelp leadership make better decisions about where and how to invest R&D resources.\nBuild effective relationships across Finance, Engineering, Operations, and business teams in a global environment.\nOperate with a high degree of ownership and independently drive priorities from analysis through decision and execution..\nQualifications\n5+ years of finance, FP&A, business finance, or related experience.\nStrong financial analysis and modeling capabilities, with advanced Excel skills.\nDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of management.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into business insights and recommendations.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial topics clearly to senior management.\nSolid understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and fundamental accounting concepts.\nSelf-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results with limited oversight.\nIntellectual curiosity and a strong desire to understand the business and technology behind the numbers.\nExperience with Anaplan, SAP BPC, Tableau, PRM, Power BI, or similar planning and analytics platforms is preferred\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nNoRelocation Eligible:\nYesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
