Learn more about our benefits.\nTitle: Mechanical Engineer - Enclosures, Frames & Sheet Metal\nGrade : E2/ E2S\nJob Description:\nMechanical Engineer is responsible for the Design, Development, qualification, and lifecycle support of equipment Enclosures, Structural frames, Sheet metal assemblies used in semiconductor equipment. The role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, quality, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable mechanical solutions that meet performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements. The position also drives continuous improvement, value engineering, and product standardization initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and develop sheet metal enclosures, machine frames, weldments, doors, panels, brackets, and associated mechanical assemblies.\nApply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve manufacturability and reduce product cost and streamline assembly processes.\nPerform structural, vibration, seismic, and tolerance analyses to validate mechanical design performance and reliability.\nDesigns comply with applicable SEMI, safety, regulatory, and industry standards.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to resolve fabrication, assembly, installation, and field-related issues.\nPartner with suppliers to optimize fabrication methods, welding processes, powder coating requirements, material selection, and manufacturing processes.\nSupport value engineering and cost reduction initiatives through component standardization and design optimization.\nParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, root-cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturing efficiency.\nSupport installation, testing, qualification, and sustaining engineering activities.\nCreate and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.\nDevelop and release engineering documentation, including BOMs, specifications, ECOs, and drawing packages.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.\n5+ years of experience in mechanical design of sheet metal, structural frames, and equipment enclosures.\nStrong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes.\nKnowledge of structural design principles, material selection, finishes, coatings, and manufacturing processes.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nEffective communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional engineering environment.\nProficiency in Creo\nExperience creating detailed engineering drawings with GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in semiconductor capital equipment or industrial equipment design.\nKnowledge of SEMI standards, seismic design requirements, and equipment safety compliance.\nFamiliarity with Teamcenter or other PLM systems.\nExperience managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), product releases, and configuration control.\nUnderstanding cleanroom-compatible materials, manufacturing practices, and semiconductor industry requirements.\nKey Competencies\nMechanical Design\nSheet Metal Design\nStructural Frame Design\nWeldment Design\nGD&T\nDesign for Manufacturing (DFM)\nFinite Element Analysis (FEA)\nMaterial Selection & Manufacturing Processes\nProduct Lifecycle Management (PLM)\nEngineering Change Management (ECO)\nProblem Solving\nSupplier Collaboration\nCross-Functional Teamwork\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nYes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:\nYesApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
