Learn more about our benefits.\nAs a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will work at the intersection of process technology, equipment engineering, data analytics, and customer engagement to develop, qualify, transfer, and support innovative processes across leading-edge semiconductor applications.\nWorThis role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in deposition, etch, epitaxy (EPI), PVD, and related semiconductor processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation, customer success, and technology adoption.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop, optimize, and qualify semiconductor processes including Deposition, Etch, EPI, PVD, and related technologies to meet product and customer requirements.\nDevelop, transfer, and qualify processes on new tool platforms, ensuring process performance, repeatability, manufacturability, and readiness for production.\nPartner with equipment engineering teams to define hardware requirements and establish risk-based qualification plans for new product and hardware development.\nDesign, execute, and analyze Design of Experiments (DOE) to understand process interactions, identify critical variables, and optimize process performance.\nUtilize statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, and other data analytics platforms to evaluate process data and drive data-driven decisions.\nConduct process engineering research, development, characterization, and evaluation to enhance the performance of Applied Materials' semiconductor equipment and systems.\nDefine process specifications, establish operating limits, and evaluate experimental results to ensure robust and repeatable process performance.\nServe as the primary process engineering interface for new product development, providing technical guidance on process and equipment interactions.\nCollaborate with product development, hardware, software, manufacturing, and field teams to support product releases and technology transitions from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.\nWork closely with customers to understand technology roadmaps, process requirements, business challenges, and future technology inflection points.\nSupport customer demonstrations, process evaluations, and technology benchmarking through planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting.\nLead customer process escalations, conducting root-cause analysis and driving timely corrective actions and long-term solutions.\nDrive adoption of new technologies through on-site evaluations, customer demonstrations, process qualifications, and production ramp activities.\nAct as a single point of contact for process-related customer requests, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure effective resolution and customer satisfaction.\nCollaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure availability of required materials, components, and process resources.\nIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement in process capability, yield, productivity, and equipment performance.\nPreferred Skills & Competencies\nStrong understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes including deposition, etch, epitaxy, diffusion, thin films, and related technologies.\nExperience with DOE methodologies, statistical process control, process characterization, and data analytics.\nStrong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.\nAbility to work effectively across cross-functional and global teams.\nExcellent communication and customer-facing presentation skills.\nKnowledge of semiconductor process integration and manufacturing environments.\nExperience supporting customer qualifications, technology transfers, and new product introductions is highly desirable.\nQualifications\nBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum 2+ years of relevant industry, research, or semiconductor process engineering experience.\nExperience in semiconductor capital equipment, process development, manufacturing, or customer-facing technical roles is preferred.\nTravel Requirements\nDomestic and international travel of approximately 10-20% may be required.\nWhy Join Applied Materials?\nJoin a world-class team that is shaping the future of semiconductor technology.
