Learn more about our benefits.\nRole Summary\nTheSecurity Operations Center (SOC)Functional Lead is a senior individual contributor who provides functional leadership, technical direction, and operational oversight for SOC capabilities. The role focuses on strengthening threat detection, incident response, and continuous improvement across cybersecurity operations.\nThis role requires strongexpertisein SOC operations, incident response, detection engineering, and security platforms, along with the ability to influence stakeholders, guide analysts, and deliver scalable operational improvements.\nCore Responsibilities\nProvide functional leadership and operational coordination for SOC activities\n\nLead high-severity incident response, threat detection, and continuous improvement initiatives\n\nGuide analysts, improve playbooks and detection content, and enhance SOC processes and tooling\n\nPartner with IT, Risk, Compliance, and business stakeholders to strengthen security posture\n\nTrack key operational metrics and support governance, risk, and compliance requirements\n\nKey Requirements\nStrongexpertisein SOC operations, incident response, SIEM/SOAR, and threat detection\n\nAbility to provide functional leadership, mentor analysts, and lead cross-functional initiatives\n\nStrong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills\n\nUnderstanding of security frameworks, governance, and compliance requirements\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s or Master’s in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field\n\nExperience\n10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including SOC operations, incident response, and detection engineering\n\nExperience in senior individual contributor, technical lead, or functional lead roles\n\nExposureglobal SOC environment\n\nCertifications (Preferred)\nCISSP, CISM, or equivalent\n\nGIAC (GCIA, GCED, GCIH)\n\nMicrosoft SC-200 / AZ-500 or equivalent\n\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nYes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:\nYesApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
