Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.Role Responsibilities:\nDesign, analyze and evaluate assigned product features using sound engineering principles, following best practices, procedures and product/program requirements\nDesign and develop complex UI features in React and TypeScript, with adequate documentation\nBuild high-performance, data-rich interfaces, including real-time updates and large-dataset visualizations\nWrite unit tests and UI automation for new and existing features\nIntegrate with backend services through RESTful APIs and real-time streams\nProvide customer support; troubleshoot and fix complex software issues\nCommunicate proactively on development status and on any delays against agreed timelines\nWork with global teams on requirements analysis and software issues\nTake part in code reviews and mentor junior developers\nTravel to onsite locations for short-term assignments such as feature integrations and version installations\n Qualifications & Requirements:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering with 6+ years of software development experience, including maintenance, continuous integration and releases\nMinimum 4 years in core product software development as a ReactJS developer\nStrong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), CSS/SCSS, React and Redux Toolkit\nExperience with real-time data (Server-Sent Events / WebSockets) and asynchronous state management\nExperience building performance-sensitive UIs with large datasets (Canvas / WebGL / SVG, render profiling and optimization)\nHands-on experience with RESTful APIs (including OpenAPI-generated clients)\nStrong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms\nHands-on experience with UI unit testing frameworks such as React Testing Library, Jest and Vitest\nExperience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright (Java or TypeScript)\nProficient with Git and with debugging in browser DevTools\nStrong communication skills and ability to work with distributed global teams\n Preferred Qualifications:\nWorking knowledge of Java and Spring Boot (multi-threading, reading and debugging backend services)\nExperience with micro-frontends / Webpack Module Federation and monorepo tooling (e.g., Yarn workspaces)\nExperience working with a component library / design system\nBasic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes\nExperience with Electron or other desktop-hosted web applications\nDomain experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial or scientific visualization software\nKnowledge of UI/UX principles and best practices\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools effectively\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nYes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:\nYesApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
