Learn more about our benefits.\nJob Description: SW Backend Engineer\nWe are looking for a highly talented Software Backend Engineer to join our unique product team building next-generation applications to control and manage our products.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nYou’ll play a key role in designing and developing backend software that drives the core scan-domain system flows of our next-generation platform. This role is highly hands-on, with a strong emphasis on Java development, system-level design, and building robust, high-performance backend services that interact with complex hardware-driven workflows.\nOur Group:\nWe are part of the R&D department of a major brand new and exciting Product, responsible for developing the next generation software and algorithm solutions that will power Applied Materials’ cutting-edge metrology and inspection system.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nDesign and develop backend software in Java for scan-domain system flows.\nImplement and maintain core system logic that orchestrates scanning, sequencing, and execution flows.\nWork closely with algorithm, hardware, and system teams to integrate end-to-end scan workflows.\nDevelop scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend components in a domain-driven architecture.\nParticipate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.\nTroubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex backend and system-level issues.\nWhat you should have:\n7+ years of strong hands-on experience in Java backend development.\nProven experience designing and implementing complex backend or system-level software.\nExperience working in Linux-based environments and domain-driven architectures.\nStrong understanding of software design principles, concurrency, and performance considerations.\nAbility to work across domains and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.\nWho we are?\nApplied Materials Israel is home to the Process Diagnostics and Control (PDC) business unit.
