Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.Role Responsibilities:\nAnalyze requirements, design, develop, and maintain complex software solutions.\nOwn feature development from design through implementation, testing, and deployment.\nDefine software specifications, architecture, and test strategies for new features.\nTroubleshoot complex software issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust fixes.\nParticipate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to ensure high-quality software delivery.\nCollaborate with product management, cross-functional teams, and customers to understand requirements and manage dependencies.\nDrive engineering best practices, technical excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMinimum Qualifications and Requirements:\nB.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or a related field.\n6+ years of experience in software product development.\nStrong expertise in Core Java and modern Java features such as Streams, Functional Programming, Concurrency, and Virtual Threads.\n5+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.\n4+ years of experience in software design, including HLD, LLD, OOAD, Design Patterns, SOLID, GRASP, Clean Code principles, and code reviews.\n4+ years of experience designing and developing Microservices or SOA-based systems.\nExperience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and asynchronous distributed systems.\nStrong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization.\nExperience using AI-powered engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Rovo, or similar tools to improve SDLC productivity.\nWorking knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\nWillingness to travel to customer sites in the US, Taiwan and Korea as required.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nSemiconductor or Metrology/Inspection domain experience.\nExperience in UI/front-end technologies (React, Angular, etc.).\nExperience with workflow orchestration frameworks such as Temporal, Apache Airflow, or similar platforms.\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nYes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:\nYesApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
