At Applied Materials, our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.\nOverview\nWe are seeking an experienced System Engineer to lead the design, integration, validation, and optimization of complex semiconductor fabrication equipment. This role requires strong systems engineering expertise and the ability to work across electrical, mechanical, controls, software, and process engineering domains to deliver innovative and reliable products.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and execute complex projects involving electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithms, controls, and software engineering disciplines.\nDefine system architecture, subsystem interactions, and equipment interfaces, ensuring alignment with product and market requirements.\nTranslate customer and market requirements into detailed system, hardware, and software specifications.\nLead technical design reviews and drive engineering decisions throughout the product development lifecycle.\nDevelop subsystem specifications, interface requirements, and system documentation.\nSupport system integration, assembly, calibration, qualification, and final product testing.\nDesign and execute validation plans, test procedures, and experiments to verify system performance.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues across electrical, mechanical, software, process, manufacturing, and field environments.\nDrive improvements in product reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and overall system performance.\nCollaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams on product development, component selection, and technology enhancements.\nMaintain engineering documentation, design records, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).\nEnsure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.\nRequired Technical Competencies\nSystems Engineering: System Architecture, Systems Thinking, Requirements Engineering, Product Design, Integration & Validation, Root Cause Analysis.\nControls & Automation: Motion Control, EtherCAT, Industrial Automation & Control Systems.\nElectrical & Mechanical Systems: Electrical/Control Schematics, Gas Panel Design, P&ID Interpretation, Fluid & Gas Delivery Systems.\n Component Engineering: Valves, Regulators, Mass Flow Controllers (MFCs), Sensors, Actuators, and Transducers.\nVerification & Documentation: V&V, Test Planning & Execution, Engineering Specifications, BOM Management, and Compliance Documentation.\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.\nExperience\n7-15 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Semiconductor Equipment, Automation Systems, or Complex Electromechanical Product Development.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.\nStrong understanding of multidisciplinary system design and integration.\nExperience leading technical reviews and cross-functional engineering teams.\nKnowledge of reliability engineering, structured problem solving, and product validation methodologies.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nAdditional Information\nTime Type:\nFull timeEmployee Type:\nAssignee / RegularTravel:\nYes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:\nYesApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
