We own the build, source control, release and deployment tooling that engineers rely on every day, and we build and maintain the development and test environments used to deliver our insurance software products. We work closely with development, QA, cloud and infrastructure teams in an Agile way of working, and we are increasingly using AI to automate and improve how we build, deploy and operate our platforms.\nAbout the role\nAs an Associate DevOps Engineer, you deliver smaller, well-scoped pieces of work. This is the beginning of your engineering career, so other people will support you as you learn. Day to day you focus on small, contained tasks to gain confidence as an independent engineer. You're curious and ask for support when you need it, which helps build your engineering toolkit and foundational skills.\nWhat success looks like\nDevOps platform capabilities (build, source control, deployment and test environments) are maintained in line with defined specifications.\nDevOps tasks are completed within expected timelines, with guidance from the team as needed.\nTroubleshooting and monitoring support is provided for defined problems using existing tools and documented processes.\nInternal teams know about existing DevOps services and where to find documentation to use them.\nYour contributions support platform stability and smooth team workflows.\nWhat you'll do\nDevelopment, debugging, quality and security\nComplete defined tasks with guidance to support the team with development and debugging.\nHelp set up and maintain CI/CD build configurations, build agents and pipelines.\nHelp install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot development and test environments, including application servers and SQL Server databases.\nCreate repositories, release branches and access permissions following company standards.\nSupport security and quality by completing work in line with established practices.\nAutomation, system administration and continuous improvement\nComplete assigned tasks that support automation, such as scripting routine environment and deployment steps.\nUse AI tools and assistants, with guidance, to write and review scripts, speed up troubleshooting and automate routine tasks.\nHelp configure deployment projects, environments, variables and lifecycles.\nTake part in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to learn how the team addresses issues.\nDocumentation and knowledge\nReview documentation to complete tasks in line with established standards.\nAsk clarifying questions to build your knowledge of DevOps tools and practices.\nPrioritization and communication\nComplete tasks within established timelines.\nSeek guidance on technical blockers or trade-offs so work stays aligned with standards.\nRespond to support requests from development teams and escalate issues when needed.\nTake part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.\nPerform other duties as assigned. Exhibit behaviors that exemplify Applied Systems' Values in Action.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n3+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or a related area\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field .\nFoundational knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.\nAbility to interpret technical documentation to complete tasks in line with standard practices for setup, testing and security.\nExperience with coding and scripting (for example PowerShell, Bash or Python), through study, projects or work.\nBasic knowledge of monitoring tools.\nAn understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and public cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure.\nAbility to solve defined problems by reviewing documentation and asking clarifying questions.\nAbility to understand the root causes of issues and work toward resolving them.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nFamiliarity to Git and a CI/CD tool such as GitLab CI, TeamCity or Azure DevOps.\nFamiliarity to deployment tools such as Octopus Deploy and\nFamiliarity with Windows Server, IIS or SQL Server.\nFamiliarity with Datadog or a similar observability platform.\nFamiliarity with Terraform, Crossplane and other IaC tools.\nInterest in containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and GitOps-style deployments.\nHands-on use of AI coding assistants or AI tools to automate tasks, and curiosity about applying AI to DevOps work.\nWhen You Join Team Applied, You Can Expect:\nA culture that values who you are and recognizes that you aren’t just an employee; you are a teammate, and you matter.
