We own the build, source control, release and deployment tooling that engineers rely on every day, and we build and maintain the development and test environments used to deliver our insurance software products. We work closely with development, QA, cloud and infrastructure teams in an Agile way of working, and we are increasingly using AI to automate and improve how we build, deploy and operate our platforms.\nAbout the role\nAs a DevOps Engineer, you deliver great work while expanding your knowledge and deepening your technical skills. The team can rely on you to complete assigned work by drawing on past experience and getting input when needed. Your work is high quality, and you collaborate with the team to deliver what is needed.\nWhat success looks like\nDevOps platform capabilities (build, source control, deployment, monitoring and test environments) are set up and maintained to meet defined specifications.\nWork is completed within expected timelines with limited guidance, and status is communicated to support the team.\nTroubleshooting support is delivered and questions are answered using documentation and monitoring tools, with others engaged on high-complexity issues when needed.\nInternal teams understand existing DevOps services and how to get support for complex requests or new services.\nReliable delivery contributes to automation, quality and operational consistency.\nWhat you'll do\nDevelopment, debugging, quality and security\nComplete a variety of development, testing and debugging tasks.\nBuild, maintain and support CI/CD pipelines and build infrastructure for product teams, including helping teams migrate pipelines to modern platforms.\nCreate and manage deployment projects, steps, variables and lifecycles, and maintain deployment manifests for promotion from development to staging and production.\nInstall, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot development and test environments, including application servers and SQL Server databases.\nConfigure monitoring and logging for product teams.\nManage existing infrastructure to maintain security and ensure quality by considering functional and non-functional requirements.\nAutomation, system administration and continuous improvement\nIdentify ways to work more efficiently and share ideas for continuous improvement.\nAutomate repetitive tasks by writing code or using tools.\nUse AI tools and assistants to accelerate automation, such as generating and reviewing scripts and pipeline code, analyzing logs and alerts, and reducing manual operational work.\nIdentify opportunities to apply AI across build, deployment, monitoring and support workflows, and share what works with the team.\nManage source control repositories, branching and access in line with company best practices.\nPerform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), with support from the team, to prevent recurrences.\nDocumentation and knowledge\nContribute to documentation on standard processes and existing DevOps platform capabilities.\nShare ideas for improving documentation for the team and other stakeholders.\nPrioritization and communication\nDeliver high-quality work within established timelines by prioritizing and getting support on complex issues or blockers.\nCommunicate trade-offs and decisions to keep work aligned with standards.\nAct as a point of contact for development teams on build, deployment and environment issues, and communicate deployments, outages and status updates.\nTake an active part in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with development, operations and infrastructure teams.\nPerform other duties as assigned. Exhibit behaviors that exemplify Applied Systems' Values in Action.\nREQUIRED QUALIFACATIONS\n8+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or a related area.\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.\nWorking knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.\nExperience interpreting technical documentation to complete setup, testing and security steps.\nExperience writing code to automate repetitive tasks (for example PowerShell, Bash or Python).\nPractical experience with monitoring tools, including using them to track application performance.\nWorking knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and related tools or frameworks for public cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.\nPractical experience with debugging and issue resolution.\nExperience using AI tools or coding assistants to automate tasks and improve productivity.\nPREFERRED QUALIFIACTIONs\nHands-on experience with CI/CD and source control tools such as GitLab, TeamCity or Azure DevOps Server.\nExperience with Octopus Deploy, ArgoCD or a similar release and deployment tool.\nExperience administering Windows Server, IIS and SQL Server in development or test environments.\nExperience with Datadog or a similar observability platform.\nExperience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Crossplane, containers (Docker, Kubernetes) or GitOps-style deployment workflows.\nExperience building AI-driven automation, such as AI agents, LLM-based tooling or AIOps for alerting and incident triage.\nExperience working in Agile teams across multiple regions and time zones.When You Join Team Applied, You Can Expect:\nA culture that values who you are and recognizes that you aren’t just an employee; you are a teammate, and you matter.
