(ATS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the complete system design lifecycle, from requirements definition through manufacturing and integration. This position works with an interdisciplinary team of analysts, systems engineers, designers, and manufacturing engineers to develop and document mechanical systems and components using design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.\nThe Mechanical Engineer will create 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, components, and large assemblies using SolidWorks. All engineering work products must meet customer requirements, applicable design standards, and ATS policies and procedures for documentation, peer review, and configuration management.\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\nSupport the mechanical design lifecycle, including requirements definition, detailed design, manufacturing support, and system integration.\nDevelop 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for mechanical components, large assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks.\nApply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to develop designs that account for manufacturing requirements and practical production considerations.\nPerform engineering calculations to evaluate design options and support technical decisions.\nCollaborate with analysts, systems engineers, designers, and manufacturing engineers to develop and document integrated design solutions.\nApply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.\nUse product data management (PDM) systems to maintain version control and manage design documentation.\nPrepare and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with applicable design standards and customer application requirements.\nParticipate in design and peer reviews, incorporating feedback into engineering work products.\nFollow ATS policies and procedures for engineering documentation, peer review, and configuration management.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.\nMinimum of 4 years of experience creating 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.\nDemonstrated experience designing individual components and large assemblies in SolidWorks.\nExperience using product data management (PDM) systems for version control and design documentation.\nDemonstrated ability to perform engineering calculations to support design decisions.\nExperience applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary engineering design team.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nCurrently possess or have the ability to obtain Security Clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications\n8 or more years of experience performing mechanical design tasks using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.\nExperience documenting product and manufacturing information (PMI) using model-based definition (MBD).\nFamiliarity with military standards and Department of Defense (DoD) practices, including MIL-STD-130.\nExperience performing finite element analysis (FEA).\nExperience designing components for high-rate production exceeding 500 units per year.\nExperience designing composite structures.\nExperience designing components for additive manufacturing, particularly metal additive manufacturing.\nDemonstrated experience collaborating with production and manufacturing vendors to incorporate practical manufacturing limitations and production efficiencies into component designs.\nDemonstrated experience supporting systems engineering activities for defense systems.\nExperience using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools, such as Cameo.\nEqual Employment Opportunity:\nApplied Technology Solutions, Inc.
