(ATS) is seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to provide analysis support for scientific and engineering programs, ranging from technology development to flight vehicle manufacturing and testing.\nAs a member of an interdisciplinary design team, the engineer will use commercial and custom-built analysis tools to solve scientific and engineering problems. This role supports development and testing through modeling, simulation, multi-physics analysis, and custom software development.\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\nPerform modeling and simulation activities to support technology development, engineering design, manufacturing, and testing.\nCollaborate with an interdisciplinary design team to analyze components, subsystems, and physical systems.\nUse commercial and custom-built analysis tools to solve scientific and engineering problems.\nApply mathematical methods, including linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics, to support engineering analysis.\nPerform static and dynamic structural analyses using appropriate analytical and computational techniques.\nConduct multi-physics and coupled analyses involving simultaneous physical phenomena, including aerothermal and thermo-structural interactions.\nPerform steady-state and transient analyses of physical systems and phenomena.\nUse continuum-level finite element analysis (FEA) solvers, such as ANSYS or Abaqus, to evaluate component and subsystem behavior.\nDevelop custom scripts and software tools using Python or MATLAB to support modeling, simulation, and data analysis.\nSupport development and testing activities by interpreting analysis results and communicating technical findings to interdisciplinary team members.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.\nMinimum of 4 years of experience performing modeling and simulation tasks using commercial or custom-built analysis tools.\nStrong mathematics background, including linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics.\nWorking knowledge of analytical techniques used to solve static and dynamic structural problems.\nDemonstrated experience developing custom scripts or software tools in Python or MATLAB to perform data analysis.\nExperience performing multi-physics analysis of components or subsystems.\nExperience performing coupled structural analyses involving multiple simultaneous physical phenomena, such as aerothermal or thermo-structural analysis.\nExperience performing both steady-state and transient analyses of physical systems and phenomena.\nExperience using a continuum-level FEA solver or similar analysis software, such as ANSYS or Abaqus.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nCurrently possess or have the ability to obtain Security Clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications\n8 or more years of experience performing modeling and simulation tasks using commercial or custom-built analysis tools in support of system or product development.\nDemonstrated experience integrating multiple software tools using application programming interfaces (APIs) or custom software wrappers.\nDemonstrated experience performing statistical analysis to support testing, including determining design bounds, quantifying uncertainty, and identifying outliers.\nDemonstrated experience developing modeling and simulation solutions from first principles.\nDemonstrated experience performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of high-speed flight vehicles.\nDemonstrated experience performing multi-physics analysis of flight vehicles.\nDemonstrated experience supporting the prototyping or production of flight vehicles, missiles, or other defense systems through modeling and simulation.\nDemonstrated experience developing modeling solutions for reactive materials or media, including reactive flows, material phase changes, or material degradation.\nDemonstrated experience performing six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) flight vehicle trajectory modeling.\nDemonstrated experience performing balance-of-plant or unit operations system analyses for material or component production processes.\nDemonstrated experience developing and training machine learning tools to solve specialized engineering or scientific problems.\nEqual Employment Opportunity:\nApplied Technology Solutions, Inc.
