About the Role
Gist is a new consumer social app built by AppLovin, a handbook for the curious. We're building our creative engine from the ground up, and we're looking for a Creative Strategist who lives at the intersection of storytelling and performance data.
In this role, you'll own the creative strategy behind our paid social advertising. You'll concept, brief, and iterate on ads that are genuinely enriching, while staying deeply connected to the metrics that determine what scales.
Central to this is your ability to identify, brief, and collaborate with top creators to produce authentic content that resonates at scale.
This is a hands-on seat. You're not handing briefs to an agency and reviewing decks. You're in the work.
A Day in the Life
- Identify, recruit, and manage relationships with strong creators whose audiences and content style align with Gist's voice - curiosity-driven, enriching, and relevant
- Brief creators to produce authentic, platform-native content that performs as paid social without feeling like an ad
- Develop creative concepts, write scripts, and direct editors to produce 10+ ad variants weekly across Meta, TikTok, Google, and other paid social channels
- Build and run a structured creative testing framework - hooks, formats, CTAs, audience angles - and translate performance signals into the next hypothesis
- Analyze CVR, CPI, CPA, and ROAS data to identify what's working and brief the next round of creative accordingly
- Partner with the performance marketing manager to connect creative decisions directly to acquisition outcomes
- Stay ahead of content trends, platform formats, and creator behavior to keep our creative fresh and competitive
The Impact You'll Make
- Build the creative foundation that drives Gist's early user growth and brand presence
- Establish a scalable creator network and data-driven creative testing system from scratch
- Influence how Gist shows up across paid social at a critical zero-to-one moment
- Help define what enriching, curiosity-driven advertising looks like in a noisy feed environment
Who You Are
- 3-5 years in paid social creative strategy, with Meta Ads as your primary channel
- Proven track record working directly with top creators - you know how to identify the right talent, build the relationship, and get the best work out of them
- Deep understanding of what makes creator content feel authentic versus forced, and how to translate that into high-performing paid social
- Quantitative by nature: you measure creative success in CVR lifts, CPA deltas, and ROAS impact, not just aesthetics
- A portfolio of creator-led campaigns that both performed and that you're proud of creatively
- Able to write a script, direct a shoot, or cut a rough edit
- Comfortable with AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor is strongly preferred
- Consumer app or DTC brand background strongly preferred
