We’re building our brand and community from the ground up, and we’re looking for a Social Media Manager who is as comfortable creating content as they are reading the data behind it.\nIn this role, you’ll own Gist’s voice and presence across social. You’ll create, test, and iterate on content that is genuinely useful and worth sharing, and you’ll stay close to the metrics that tell you what’s working.\nAbout the Role\nWe are launching a new social platform dedicated to the relatable, actionable content that people use to navigate their daily lives.\nWe are looking for a Social Media Manager to be the face and voice of Gist across the platforms where our audience already lives: Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Substack, and whatever comes next.\nThis is a builder role. We want someone who has grown an audience from zero, knows what makes content travel on each platform, and move faster than anyone around them.\nYou will own our social channels end to end and be the reason people discover Gist before they ever download it.\nA Day in the Life\nOwn social strategy and execution across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Substack, and emerging platforms.\nCreate platform-native content, including short-form video, posts, and written pieces, in a distinct Gist voice.\nWork with agencies, individual content creators, and influencers, including our own Gist creators, to produce posts and feature them in our content.\nGrow our audience and engagement through fast experimentation: test formats and hooks, study what lands, and double down.\nPartner with performance marketing so social supports the broader growth funnel.\nTrack and report on audience growth, engagement, and content performance to shape what we make next.\nSpot trends and cultural moments early, and know which ones are worth jumping on.\nThe Impact You’ll Make\nDefine how Gist looks, sounds, and feels in public from launch.\nBuild an owned audience across platforms that becomes a durable growth channel for the product.\nEstablish repeatable content playbooks and formats that scale as the team and the platform grow.\nBring ground-level insight on what resonates with our audience directly into product and brand decisions.\nWho You Are\n2-3+ years of experience in social media, content, or community growth.\nA proven history of growing an account or channel from the ground up to a significant, engaged audience. You can show us the results and walk us through how you did it.\nFluent with AI tools, with a clear point of view on how to use them to create better content faster.\nStrong writing, visual, and editing instincts, with a portfolio of content you made yourself.\nComfortable creating across formats and platforms, from Instagram and TikTok video to Threads and Substack writing.\nSelf-directed and fast-moving, and at home in an ambiguous, early-stage environment.\nExperience working with or inside a larger organization while owning your channels with startup-level autonomy.\nNice to Have\nExperience as a UGC creator or content creator yourself.\nExperience as a brand marketer at other startups.\nExperience writing, growing, or running a Substack.\nFamiliarity with lifestyle feed content dynamics: what drives daily engagement, retention, and shareability.\nWhy Join This Venture\nThis is more than a social role.
