As an organization built on diversity, our team members are representative of the students we support.\nThe Opportunity:\nApplyBoard is seeking an Accountant to support one of our school partners with the accurate and timely processing of student refunds and related accounts receivable activities. This role is responsible for reviewing account balances, resolving credit discrepancies, and ensuring refunds are processed in accordance with policy and compliance requirements.\nYou will work closely with internal teams to investigate and resolve account issues, maintain accurate records, and support reporting and reconciliation activities.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing Every Day:\nPrepares internal and external reconciliations of assigned balance sheet and general ledger accounts by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and related reports, working independently with minimal daily oversight.\n\nResearches and resolves general ledger account discrepancies, escalating unresolved or unusual items to the Controller in a timely manner.\n\nMaintains the Fixed Asset system, including recording newly acquired assets, calculating and posting monthly depreciation, and reconciling the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.\n\nTracks Construction in Progress (CIP) projects, monitoring project costs against budgets and coordinating timely capitalization of completed projects.\n\nAnalyzes accounts and prepares adjusting journal entries as necessary, with appropriate supporting documentation.\n\nPrepares deferred revenue schedules and related journal entries to ensure revenue is recognized in the appropriate period.\n\nAnalyzes accounts receivable aging and prepares bad debt expense journal entries.\n\nPrepares and posts gift and donation entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper account coding.\n\nMaintains prepaid expense schedules and prepares related monthly amortization journal entries.\n\nPrepares interdepartmental and intradepartmental charge entries, ensuring costs are allocated to the appropriate departments accurately and timely.\n\nTracks and reconciles enrollment reports against financial and student information system data for consistency.\n\nTracks unclaimed property and assists with related compliance monitoring and annual filings.\n\nPrepares and compiles financial data required for the annual U.S. News & World Report survey submission.\n\nPrepares Georgia state reporting as required.\n\nCommunicates with departments and university personnel via phone, email, or virtual meeting to investigate and resolve account discrepancies.\n\nProtects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.\n\nPerforms other related accounting tasks as assigned.\n\nWhat You Bring to the Table:\nBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience\n\nKnowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP) specifically to USA Market.\n\nMinimum of 2 years of related general accounting experience, including account reconciliations and/or fixed asset accounting.\n\nPrior experience working remotely or in an offshore capacity supporting a U.S. based accounting or finance team preferred.\n\nExperience in accounts receivable, refunds processing, or financial operations\n\nAbility to work independently and manage a recurring workload with minimal direct daily supervision.\n\nStrong self-management, organizational, and time-management skills across time zones.\n\nGeneral math and accounting skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills suited to asynchronous, remote collaboration.\n\nPC proficiency, including Microsoft Office/Excel and database query applications.\n\nProficiency in ERP accounting information systems.\n\nHigh degree of confidentiality.\n\nDeadline-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.\n\nAbout ApplyBoard\nApplyBoard empowers students around the world to access international education.
